Today I went back to Magic Kingdom. I had nothing in particular I wanted to do, but I had not spent much time there this trip. I don't think I rode anything but the Peoplemover and I did see Philharmagic and I rode Little Mermaid. I got some popcorn , sat on a bench and did some people watching. It was a bit cooler today--nice if you are in the sun, but chilly in the shade. I went thru all the shops but didn't find anything I couldn't leave on the shelf. I started thinking about dinner and found I could get an early ADR for Sebastian's Bistro at the Caribbean Beach. I have eaten there almost every time I have stayed at the Riviera, and have always enjoyed it. I took the monorail over to the Contemporary to check out Lake Buena Vista Gifts and then to the Polynesian--love that gift shop there. Back on the monorail and back to the Magic Kingdom to catch a bus back to the Riviera. I had enough time to go up and grab a jacket from the room before heading to Sebastian's. I arrived and was promptly seated. I thought I would be dining by myself as it was not quite 5:00, but the place was pretty busy. It is a pre-set menu with a few items to add on. I went with the standard offering which includes, chicken, pulled pork, grilled beef, salad, dinner rolls and Coconut-Pineapple bread pudding with caramel sauce. It was really, really good, and I could not do it justice but did as much damage as I could. My server brought the bill and then my card to pay. He very quickly came back and said that he could not charge my card as someone had paid my bill and he did not know who it was. I have never had anything like that happen to me before. I won't forget that kindness for a long, long time. The ride on the scooter back to the Riviera was a cold one, and I was glad to get back to my room and turn the heat on. A couple of episodes of Everybody Loves Raymond and it was lights out.

Friday, March 1, 2024 Today was stay in and clean out my two Owners Lockers day. I have been doing this a little bit at a time over my last few trips, but was always limited to extra space in luggage as to what I could take back. This trip, with driving, I took two tubs down with me that I could fill with whatever to bring home. I did manage to fill one tub and to trash some stuff. I also was packing up all my clothes, etc. because tomorrow I was moving to Saratoga for two nights. I needed a vacation from my vacation. I took my time and it basically took me all day to empty my lockers and repack them as well as pack up my other stuff, including purchases I had made for the family. I tried putting the murphy bed up so that I could sit on the sofa and would not have to lean over so far to work in the lockers, but I could not get it back into the wall by myself, just too darn heavy. I should have called someone to help, but I decided to just deal with it, and my back did pay the price. After taking a short break from packing, etc., I went down to Bar Riva for a bite to eat. I love their chicken wings and got those for dinner. When I got back to the room, I took some meds for my back and called it a night. I knew I would be awake early--always am on moving or going home day.
Note: I still have 2 lockers, and the goal is to get down to 1.

Got up and finished packing the remaining items I knew I would need this morning, There is always more stuff than you think and it always takes longer to finish packing up--at least it does me. I finally got everything together and called for Bell Services. My dilemma was how was I going to get my car and the scooter over to Saratoga. I decided the best thing was to have everything loaded into the car, leave it at the Riviera, then take the scooter on the bus to Disney Springs and then ride over to Saratoga and leave the scooter with Bell Services while I take a ride share back to the Riviera for my car. So, once the car was loaded u. I went back inside as I wanted to have breakfast at Primo Piatto, I knew that the lemon and blueberry pancakes were to die for, and I wanted them once on this trip. There were even better than I remembered and are now my No. 1 favorite food item at the Riviera. After eating, I took off for Disney Springs on the scooter. No stops, just scooted on over to Saratoga. When I exited Disney Springs, a boat was pulling up at the boar dock, so I took that over to Saratoga and worked my way up to the carriage house. I went to Guest Services to make sure they had my requests on file and if they had assigned me a room, to make sure it would work ok. I was so surprised when they told me that my room was ready as it was not quite even noon yet, and they had given me a room right off the elevator in the GrandStand area, perfect.
I took the scooter to the room and then called for a Minnie Van. I had no idea they were so expensive. Cost was around $30 to get back to the Riviera. Anyways, back to the Riviera to pick up the White Rabbit, what my car is named. And then since I was not going to a Park, I headed back up International Drive to get that Dooney bag I had been wanting. I figured if I was still thinking about it, I would be sorry if I did not get it. On the way back, I decided to hit the Disney Character Warehouse, if I could easily get a parking spot. I did eventually get a spot and made my way into the Outlet Mall and once again there was a line to get in the store. The line does move fairly quickly, so I decided to wait. I picked up a couple of shirts for my Grandson and a sweater for me that I had eyed back in the fall. When I left there, I had to go thru the food court to get back to my car. There was a Japanese place that looked really good for a food court, and I ordered some Teriyaki Chicken and Shrimp. They cook it right in front of you. I took it back to the room as that food court is just too noisy for me. Back at the room and that take out was really, really good. I could only eat about half and saved the rest for dinner on Sunday night. I then did a couple of loads of laundry and called it a night.

Up and got a bit more laundry done--the goal was to go home with mostly all clean clothes. I was meeting my friend at D-luxe burger for lunch and I decided I would leave a bit early in case there were any stores that I had missed before. I saw a t-shirt once that I need to make for myself, it said "Guaranteed to go in every Disney shop, at least twice" So true of me. My friend also wanted a piece of cake from Gideon's. Neither she nor I care for the cookies, but we have both enjoyed the cake in the past. I went to see if they were doing a virtual queue or what the deal was, and it was just a 15-20 minute line. I went and headed over to D-Luxe Burger and found an outlet I could plug in the scooter on the side of the Disney Welcome Center that faces D-Luxe Burger. Along the way I found the new Gateway to Discovery Center, not knowing anything about it. I went in and learned that it had only opened the day before. I asked if this is where the new lounge would be, and they had not heard anything about that. They had some really cute Chip and Dale buttons for the new cabins. I grabbed one for my friend as she loves Chip and Dale. There is an adorable huge Mickey statue in there, he is sitting down.
I left there and went around to D-Luxe Burger where my friend joined me. At the time it was warm and the sun was out. We enjoyed our burgers and their yummy fries and visited for a while. When we left, she wanted to go into the Gateway to Discovery Center so we did. It then started drizzling and the sun disappeared and it turned cool very quickly. Around to Gideon's we then went, but we needed ponchos I had in the basket of the scooter, not only for the rain that was now coming down but to help keep warm as it had turned cool very quickly. When we got to Gideon's, the line was about the same as it had been earlier, down the side of the building almost to the Morimoto entrance. It moved very quickly and I bet we were inside in less than 15 minutes. My son and his wife do like their cookies, so I bought 6 cookies to take home to them and a slice of cake for me. I haven't paid that much for cookies since I bought tons of girl scout cookies from a neighbor. Next trip I will try the cookies at Summerhouse.
My friend and I then went our separate ways as she needed to get home and I needed to get back to the room and finish gathering up everything to leave tomorrow. I also needed to meet the scooter guy to turn it in. I then got a Bellman to give me a ride back to the room as it was still drizzling and cold. I wanted to start out with a full charge in the morning, so I went to another SuperCharger, in Kissimmee on Irlo Bronson Highway at the WaWa. It was not nearly as busy as the first two I had used in Orlando. (We don't have WaWa where I live and I always thought when people said WaWa, they were referring to WalMart, little did I know it is a real place) I just wanted to know what my options were for future trips. Back to the room I had my Japanese takeout leftovers and started in on the cake. I was not crazy about the cake--it was a vanilla crumb cake and it just wasn't that good. I ate about 1/3 and set the rest aside, not knowing if I would trash it or bring it home with me. In the end I trashed it. Should have gotten the red velvet. I learned the next day that my friend did not like it either and she gave hers to a family member. I would have loaded everything in the car that night, but it was still raining and nasty out, so I decided to wait until morning even though it would take a little longer.

Monday, March 3, 2024 Up and at em, it was a nicer day today, even though you can start to feel the humidity--first time this trip. I had the car loaded and was pulling out of my parking spot at exactly 8:00 AM. Traffic on I-4 was not as bad as I expected until I got close to downtown Orlando and there was a wreck. Once I got thru that things started moving along. I did stop at Buc-ee's to charge and use the facilities, even though I did not need to charge. Last stop it was Daytona 500 crowds, this time it was Bike Weekend crowds, but not nearly as bad as it was on the stop down. When I got to Jacksonville, my navigation had me take the beltway around Jacksonville, which it had not done on the trip down. Somewhere along the way, I saw a Duluth Trading Co. store and knowing their quality I decided to stop and check out what I had only seen in their catalog. I found a couple of things to purchase and in the process I learned there is a store within 20 miles of my house that I did not know about. There was a lot of construction on that beltway, too. Off towards Savannah and I encountered road construction on and off almost all the way back to North Carolina. I also stopped at Brunswick, Georgia to charge, and I did not recognize until I pulled up that it was just where I had stopped on the way down, kind of in a parking lot that also houses a bowling alley. I had stopped there on the way down and used the facilities, so I knew it was descent, not Buc-ees clean, but acceptable. I had not eaten at this point, so I decided to order a hot dog at the snack bar while my car was charging. It took forever, and I finally inquired and learned they only had one oven and I had two pizzas ahead of me, one was for a man that I let order ahead of me because I was still deciding. It took a full 30 minutes to get that flippin hot dog. I ended up charging my car up to 100% just so the time was not wasted. If they had told me it would take that long, I would have gone somewhere else, but the guy had already given me the chips and the drink, so I felt I needed to stay for the hot dog. Still shaking my head at 30 minutes for a flippin hot dog. My 100% charge did get me all the way to the Buc-ees at Florence, SC, which I had stopped on the way down. I needed something to eat again and ordered a grilled cheese with bacon that really hit the spot. I would get their grilled cheese again. More road construction as I got into North Carolina that really slowed me down. Lots of left and right lanes closed that shut traffic down to one lane only. I finally got home around 9:00 P.M. 13 hours is a long time for that drive. I have made it in the past in 9 hours. I knew that stopping to charge would take longer, but the road construction is what really did me in. When I got home, I only unloaded my computer bag and the cooler as everything else could wait until the next day. Misc thoughts in another post.

LOL....I thought that we would downsize from two to one this year. Nope, seems that we just added :other" new stuff. Yes, that is the case, always finding things that make you feel at home. And most of it is stuff that I would not normally pack in a suitcase every trip.
