I think Musk is an idiot. And, yes, I do think that they had the right to part company with her services for comportment in public as all companies do.
She has an absolute right to freedom of speech. They have an absolute right to staffing decisions.
Cheers.

Don't know, don't care.....So glad I don't tweet.
I barely knew who she was before Mandalorian. To me, her character was not memorable and was replaceable.
From the little I know, it seems both parties were wrong and also right.
Just like the other Disney legal fights, the only winners will be the lawyers.

And just like the last thread, why do you need to name call people? Just because she is not on your side of the political spectrum, does not give you the right mock them. Again, I do not really care about her firing, her political views or this case in general.
We will just see where the chips fall in this case. I doubt the case will be dismissed. Just like in the last case, it will drag on and eventually a settlement will be reached by Disney.
Publicity is great.....when its good news. But this is more negativity publicity, which Disney does not need.....not I want to see.

From my understanding Disney does have a legal issue here (and a couple of others). They are allowing some of their talent to be open with their political positions but not others. So, they cannot have a separate standard based on political viewpoint. They need to either allow their talent to speak or muzzle all of them. That is the issue at stake here.

I thought the admin said on this new site we could have political discussions and that they would just get moved off the home page. I post this stuff here because almost everyone I know would have no idea what I’m talking about. They don’t read Disney news. I like to post and see what other Disney freaks like myself think about the subject and I’m always surprised by the differing views on this site. Didn’t mean to offend you by calling her a whack a doodle but for someone who’s anti vax, thinks Trump won the last election, and equates being giving a hard time for thinking such things to the horrors of the Holocaust I thought I was going easy. I understand not wanting bad publicity but then where do you draw the line? Can your employees just behave in any crazy way they want once you hire them and you’re just stuck with them? What she said was truly offensive and if we disagree with that I think we’re on different planets. But that’s ok! I’m not trying to get under your skin. I think if it gets dismissed or Disney wins Musk will bankroll it to the Supreme Court so doubt the story is just going away anytime soon. I’m no lawyer but it seems to me like Disney isn’t saying they fired her for her political beliefs. They say they canned her after she grotesquely compared folks giving her a hard time for her political views to what the Jews went through in the Holocaust. That’s some wildly offensive stuff right there. Now maybe not everyone agrees with me and anyone can think anything they want. But do they have to continue to have her as the face of their number one show after that? Can you just say anything without there ever being repercussions? There’s no muzzling thousands of employees. I just feel that an employer should be able to make the call on who they do business with. Maybe I’m wrong. Like I said I got a feeling this will go all the way to the top with Musk behind it.

I am not offended at all by what you called her, I really don't care. But I find it unnecessary to name call someone just call because of where they stand politically that is opposed to you. You can dislike her without the "extra". There is way to much of that going on these days. You even define her as crazy for speaking her beliefs/opinions.....that is not even close to the definition of crazy.
I am more concerned about what the lawsuit is/isn't, what is being gained/lost and how does it help/hurt Disney.
Disney is the one being sued, and the above is their counter to that lawsuit. This is negative publicity for Disney. This drains money and energy away from Disney, and further erodes trust.
Anyway, this is going to work its way through the courts. It will be interesting to see how Disney handles settling the lawsuit.

See this is why I like bouncing this stuff off of this site to what you’re going to get. We’re completely different on this. You say this erodes trust. I trust them more for not allowing themselves to be associated with someone who would say such things. You don’t seem to care about that or even comment one way or the other on what got her fired. Just if it’s bad publicity or not. I get it. We’re all DVC owners here so one might say we got skin in the game. I just really believe that what you say in public should matter.

Like Tom, I don’t know nor care about Gina Caranos. I think Henry summed it up nicely. It will be interesting to see if this lawsuit has any legs.
Let me know if I should move this to the politics thread.

Social media is full of crap.....from both sides. I avoid the static and all the finger pointing. My focus is the lawsuit and whatever impacts it may or may not have. Its not my job to weigh justice on people based on their opinions vs my own. And its certainly not my job to belittle them by name calling. To ease into Politics, I see Trump do this all the time to people....it is so off putting. No need for it.
You know what I find amusing? Half the articles I read, I skip down to the comments, just to see the hilarious "exchange" of opinions people have. That is social media at its best and worse. These people are so embedded with their options/beliefs, both sides feel they are 100% right......and hate the other side for not "listening" and agreeing with their side. This is why I don't care.....its just more everyday static of people.
I don't hate people. I don't pick a side. I am team "me".....that is what I worry about. And team Me thinks that this is another unfortunate situation for Disney, whether they win or lose. Disney has consistently been a top 5-10 trusted Brand until the past 5 years. They have fallen each year since. This is just another "negative" event for Disney.
My understanding is she tweeted something comparing conservatives to Jews and holocaust. Twitter is not public, it is private.....at least, that is how social media sites are spun when they ban and filter content of people.

Let me know if I should move this to the politics thread. I thought this would be moved from the home page to the new posts board and that’s where it initially appeared. Please move it if you’d like. Didn’t know there was a section for politics. I understand keeping this stuff separate so only those interested have to see it or read about it. Thanks

Just returned from NYC so didn't see this until now.
If you want to make this a political discussion just let me know and I'll move to the debate board. Her firing was based on antisemitic remarks and not political remarks so not sure that needs to go there at all in the discussions. Firing for hate speech is totally different and contrary to what some say, being antisemitic is.not political. I know liberal and conservatives who are.
Her character was pretty 1 dimensional though so not upset nor really caring.

Agreed with most of the above, just amused at where we differ… I almost never read the comments on articles, as I don’t give a shit what most others think. I find the pages of repetitive responses and exchanges of people whose opinions won’t change annoying overall. I do hate people. And I do pick sides, but also as it relates to Team Me and how I am impacted.
