1. Say "Aloha" and "Mahalo." 2. Dress like locals. Hawaii is very casual and laid back. Fancy attire and jewelry are for nights out in LA or Manhattan 3. Hawaiians move at their pace, which is likely to be slower than mainlanders are accustomed to. Be patient and understanding. 4. Learn proper pronunciations of towns, roads, etc. 5. Respect the environment--dispose of trash where it belongs; use reef safe sunscreen only; rocks are not souvenirs. 6. Respect any and all "do not enter" "don't go in the water" do not approach the sea life" signs. Never put yourself in a position to be "that gal/guy" on social media 7. Learn about Hawaiian history and culture. It's very interesting. 8. Definitely do not pee in public.

Never put yourself in a position to be "that gal/guy" on social media To this I'll add to have a basic understanding of what things might have cultural significance (heiaus for example) and do not walk on them even if there is not a Do Not Enter sign. Often there isn't.
As for the sea life, there are often not signs, but approaching sea mammals and various turtles is federal and beyond just Hawaii...and something that tourists often do.
Cheers.
