Good point. I was thinking in a nationwide sense but, of course, it's the local timing that matter most and national may be less important, as you say. Yeah all that matters is the local market. In Chicago this year it's the last week of March and the first week of April. Both are crazy booked. Someone upthread say they thought prices were pretty good for spring break and...I very much did not. WGA fares approaching $300 one-way out of Chicago are, like, double what they were even last year, it seems. I admit this is all anecdotal and reliant on my ever-failing memory, but still. No, your memory isn't that bad they are about double! Typical is around 12,000-15,000. 25,000 sometimes for high-demand times. Columbus Day weekend we scored primo flights for around 20,000, which was great. For spring I anticipated 30,000 across the board -- ended up getting 30,000 one way and 17,000 the other way, so I'm happy w that. Yesterday when I posted this the flights were up to 45,000... today they're 55,000. I've never seen 55K before. Even Christmas week isn't like that. I think they put quite a bit fewer into the WGA bucket this go-round -- maybe due to the push to be more profitable.

It was disappointing. And as mentioned those '5 AM' flights were gone fast - one-way tickets in the mid $600s? No thanks. We'll drive. That was me. The "cheap flights" mid week last year were like $600. This year $380 with norm (non peak or holiday) being $350 for us. $450-500 isn't abnormal for us otherwise for spring break. So $380 was good. Add in flight credits and such we came out pretty darn good. I do realize last year spring break coincided with the week before easter though so maybe why higher. This year was lower for us than previous years.
