Hello, fellow MOs!
Exciting news! I'm squeezing in one last Disney adventure before Standing Pines' grand opening. This trip is part work, part play, and (hopefully) a refreshing sprinkle of the Disney relaxation magic!
The Plan:
- 5-6 nights of Florida fun
- Grand finale: 2 nights (October 1-2) in the new Fort Wilderness cabins!
Why now, you ask? With Standing Pines' soft opening on October 15, it's a bit of a nail-biter. But as my DH pointed out, "You can market and make decisions from anywhere!" So, armed with my phone and laptop, I'm starting to plan for this working getaway.
The Mission:
1. (re)Benchmark Florida's finest campgrounds (I'm looking at you, Camp Margaritaville, KOAs, and Themeworld RV Resort!)
2. Explore the latest at Legoland (AP will be useful to check out a few new things and an idea or two I have for developing at SP over time!)
3. Soak in the Fort Wilderness experience (Golf cart adventures and fireworks on the beach? Yes, please!)
Accommodations:
- Camp Margaritaville cabins? Tempting, but at $300+ a night, that's a hard pass for now.
- Leaning towards using my Hilton Honors credits for 2-3 hotel nights, with a day pass to explore Camp Margaritaville.
- Two nights at the brand new DVC cabins at Fort Wilderness!
As Standing Pines enters its final construction phase, this trip is my last chance to gather inspiration and operational insights. I'll be chatting with staff, observing operations, and of course, having a blast!
Now, here's where you come in, MO friends! Any specific areas of Fort Wilderness or the new cabins you'd like me to investigate? Drop your requests in the comments, and I'll be your eyes and ears!
Stay tuned for photos, videos, and a full report.
Fellow MO who have followed our construction story may enjoy some of the photo compare/contrasts I plan for this trip of FL campgrounds and Standing Pines. I bet some of you could already speak to some Disney influences on Standing Pines! And, if you'd ever like to drop in to stay with us to check it out in person, we are just 30 minutes off I-95. Stopping over might be a great way to break up a long road trip to/from Disney!
If this is the first you are hearing about Standing Pines, check out our social media (https://linktr.ee/standingpines). Or get the real inside scoop with far too much detail here on the Standing Pines thread on MO.
I would deeply appreciate it if you want to help spread the word to your Disney-loving friends and family that a new SC campground with a Disney loving owner is opening to the public on October 15!
In fact, if we can get a group of a dozen or so MO following this thread interested, I may even do a MO only virtual preview tour of Standing Pines, with a focus on the Disney influences, just before we open!
Now, back to the endless to-do list of opening a campground. But first, let me double-check those Fort Wilderness reservations...
