Someday, I should retire, and dress in khakis and a button up shirt and sunglasses, and devote myself to taking morning walks around 9am give or take. I could then walk through pool areas at various resorts wearing my "manager-type" outfit and swoop up towels on chairs with no people, for the whole pool, and be on my way.

No, seriously, it would. Aulani has such a huge problem with chair hogs. Chairs are nearly impossible to find even during slow times.

Wonderful trip report, and sounds like a fabulous vacation to Aulani and the island. We're planning to go in March, and are completely clueless about all of it. Thank you for including all of the food spots. Taking notes. We're hoping to get out and about for eating. We're also looking for as many scenic areas to take in as we can, so appreciate the details. I hope our group can manage Diamondhead, sounds like it's worth the effort for the views. We don't know much yet about the logistics of the places, like making reservations at beaches, etc. Thank you for including things like parking fees. Hadn't crossed our minds. DH has always wanted to try parasailing. Kids would like that too. We have so much research to do!! Thank you so much for sharing all of the fun and the TR!! I believe Hanauma Bay is the only place where a reservation is needed. And that is really because it is a protected reef - makes for good snorkeling. I remember back in the day when the parking was first come, first served. It created lots of traffic in the area as people were waiting for parking and jamming the flow of traffic. Also, there is one day of the week (Sunday, I think) where you won't be able to get rentals at Kailua. It's to give the locals a day with less tourists.

Come on, people. I did once at OKW go take towels off chairs at 11am or something. We got there early, then after a couple hours I said to wife "I'm gonna go take those towels." We didn't sit there, but we sat across the way. About an hour or more later, here comes Ms Instagram with her toddler, looking all confused.

If it’s just towels and nothing else, and no chairs available, I remove the towels and use the chairs. They open the rude door…I walk right through it.

That’s my standard outfit every day of the year. I like the idea… until I draw attention to myself when I trip over the chairs since I’m focusing on the bikinis.

Ha, my eyes are trained not to get caught staring… They can’t handle much beyond that.
