DAY 1 - Polynesian Resort - Sep 1, 2024We left before dawn for an early flight. Grabbed a Starbucks and boarded on time. A bit delay on the tarmac but got in the air and it was smooth sailing. Watched the latest Bad Boys movie which was pretty good. After we landed while waiting for everyone to deplane, DW says, you know, we never get any pixie dust. I thought about it and could not think of anything recent but did say it has happened. Foreshadowing for things to come. Luggage was not quick. Took about 30 min to get bags. Then ordered our Uber and he was there in 5 min. Small car, so glad we did not have too much luggage. He was friendly and gave us a tip about the Orlando restaurants that do $40 and $60 specials this time of year. Can’t remember sit but we looked and The Edison has a deal. We have wanted to try it, so plan on seeing about reservations. As we were pulling up to the Polynesian, DW received a text that the room was ready. Pixie dust! It was only 1:20 pm. That has never happened for us before, so we stopped by the desk to ensure our bands worked, got our lays and were off to the room. We requested a bottom floor by the quiet pool and we got just what we wanted. And, we are the last room closest to the lake. We have never been this far down and our room has a view of the beach and we think we can see fireworks partially right from our room. We shall see. We can hear the boat horns. But that will not bother us. We unpacked and then decided we were hungry. Should we go to Magic Kingdom as planned or just eat at Poly? We decided we would go get something to eat at Captain Hooks. So we headed over and it was starting to sprinkle. As we walked toward Captain Hooks, we decided to grab a Trader Sam’s reservation. The wait was 3 hours, so we got on the list. Then headed back to grab some very late lunch as it was 2:45. DW got in line to order and I went in search of a table. I had to stalk tables for 10 min but finally got one. That’s when I realized the pixie dust comment was going to ensure I saw all the blessings this trip! no sooner had we walked over and got into Poly, did it start raining. It was light at first, then it was a deluge, complete with thunder and lightning. Pixie dust moment - realizing we could have been just getting to Magic Kingdom. It rained for another hour hard! Good call on staying at Poly. As you can imagine, the place got packed quickly, so glad I had secured seats. I ordered the pork nachos and they were really good. Lots of pork and the chips were good and crispy. DW got the pulled pork sandwich and fries. She said it was good. We drank water to hydrate from our trip. We took our time since the rain was really coming down. When we were done, we decided to browse the shop and see if they had anything new. We strolled through the shop and did not buy anything. The rain had let up for a bit, so we decided to go back to the room and order groceries. We had groceries ordered by 4 from Instacart and Publix. They said 6pm for delivery, right when we likely would get the Trader Sam’s text. I worked on my computer for a bit, and DW was on her iPad. We relaxed a bit and waited for the groceries. Sure enough, we got the Trader Sam’s text around the same time the groceries were 20 min out, so no way that was going to work. We declined the reservation and walked up to meet the driver and get our Owners Locker. Bell services told us since we did not have any liquor or beer, they would just bring everything to us. We went back to room and hung out for 30 minutes, then got the text groceries were delivered. Called bell services and had groceries in about 15 min. By that time, the weather looked iffy and we decided to make it a lazy night, rest and go to bed early. We watched a couple hours of Beachfront Bargains and hit the hay at 9pm. And… slept until 9:30 am! Guess we needed it. before we left, we only booked one lightning lane single - FoP and one day with the new multi-pass at Epcot. We will see how that goes before doing any more. We have Wed at Epcot with the multi-pass for Remi’s, Figment and Spaceship Earth (in reverse order as I listed). Plan is to get the Spaceship Earth right when we get in park at 10:30ish, then see if we can get Soaring or Frozen. Testing the new multipass. Tomorrow we have Animal Kingdom planned but we may change that since we did not hit MK as usual. We typically make that our first park.

We also tried to get Frozen after our initial Lightning Lane was used and did not have any luck, but that was on a Saturday during F&W and it did have some technical issues earlier in the day. I think it is all luck of the draw. It has been the only time I was not able to get it, which was a bummer as we ended up not riding.
Great start to the trip report!

We have stayed as long as 16 days, but not at the same resort. We had family with us for part of the trip. For us, we always book a bit extra time to ourselves AFTER our company leaves. We have stayed 10 days at Poly before. I love it. You don't feel so rushed to get to doing things and I enjoy the down time I rarely get.

DAY 2 - Magic Kingdom & Epcot - Sep 2, 2024
We had originally planned on going to Animal Kingdon on the 2nd, but after getting up later in the AM and a relaxing, lazy morning, we decided to go to Magic Kingdom. It is always our first park and since we did not go on the 1st, we decided to go over, shop and catch the parade. We slept in until 9:30, which was a 10-hour siesta. Much needed to recharge the batteries. We rarely get 8 hours at home, due to various things, so it is a treat when we can sleep until we want.
We ate breakfast in the room and both worked for an hour, as we are business owners, so we never can truly get away. But I would not trade it for the world! Our businesses are what afford us the ability to spend 30+ days in Disney, plus other vacations, events and fun things. We typically do an hour in the AM and an hour in the PM, just to make sure our key people are all set.
We decided to take the boat over to Magic Kingdom. As we were walking to the boat dock, the boat was literally coming in. More pixie dust for us. The new tower was in full view. I thought it looked ok but DW said it was hideous. LOL I am waiting to see how it turns out. Being a Poly owner, any new restaurant will be a plus and bonus. Lines were very short at the entrance, so walk up, scan and in. We wanted to walk a bit and stretch our legs, so we just casually strolled a bit around the park, going left toward Club 33 (one day I'd love to be a member). We were hoping to get on the Jungle Cruise but for some reason, it was closed. I did not hear about any closures, so not sure why. We walked over and checked out Tiana. Looks like they added a few flowers on the outside. We chose not to ride as we were just walking. Lines were not long though. But, the clouds were coming in since we got a late start, afternoon showers were forming.
We stopped by the DVC booth in Frontierland, as I wanted one of the magic band thingies and have never been there when they had any. I was rewarded yet again with the pixie dust and they had them!! Plus, Ed gave us some Chip and Dale buttons. He said they were secrets!! LOL Bet he says that to all the girls. He also asked us if we had done a member update and we were clueless. He explained they were doing them in Riviera up in the 3-bedroom. We decided what the heck, we don't want any more points but would love to see those rooms and so we signed up for a 4 pm time. Then kept on strolling.
We ended up at Mickeys Philharmonic, which was as good as always. As we left, it was raining cats and dogs! I always find it funny how they cancel parades and such as it is unsafe in that weather, but when you exit a ride, they send you out into the crazy weather regardless. So we decided to duck into the store to avoid getting soaked. We shopped and DW found a shirt she liked, so we bought that and then decided to duck back into the Philharmonic as the radar showed another 30 minutes of rain. After the show, we headed out as it was just a few drops at that point.
We decided to go to Caseys for a dog. As we were walking, DW said what is wrong with your heels? Seems my new shoes + new socks were causing quite the ruckus with my heels. They had hurt a bit but I did not know I had full-on blisters. So, we decided to eat before heading over to first aid. We got two dogs and a coke. We knew we were going to Epcot, so we did not want to fill up. After eating, I got some bandaids and mole skin from First Aid. There are free things at Disney!! No charge for blister care products, I was told to stop in if I needed more.
I applied the band-aids and moleskin to the shoes. Then I hoped for the best. Spoiler alert, it did not go well and by end of day I was in severe pain and had blisters on top of blisters. But still made it another 8 hours!
After first aid, we heard that the parade was cancelled, so we decided to head to the Riviera early, check it out as we had only been there once before and just rest my heels a bit. We took a bus from MK to Riviera. It was a decent ride over there. Once there, we strolled through the shop for a bit, then sat in the lobby for a while. The tour was right at 4pm. It was on the 8th floor and the 3-bedroom is SO NICE. The guide at one point mentioned the room was ONLY 140 points a night. What a deal. We will likely never stay there but it was fun to see the room.
The update was pretty boring. Nothing we needed to hear about. They were pushing additional bonuses for buying from an appt set from that event. More discounts on the cabins than Riviera (an extra $1k). We passed setting up and appointment. They gave us a couple of DVC shoulder bags. They will work for when we want to just go out at night without the need for a full backpack. They will go in our Owners Locker. We left the Riviera and headed to the Gondolas to get to Epcot.
We came in the back gate and went into the shop right there to grab the Remi sticker game. We enjoy doing that and usually give the prizes to nieces or nephews. This time around, they are bowls that we will keep and add to our locker. We decided we would get the Remi and Figment bowls, but did not want to lug them all day, so passed on getting them right away. Once up at the crossroads, we decided to go right and head toward France. DW got the escargot bread bowl. She said it was just ok. Nothing special. We found Remi and checked the ride wait time, which was 45 minutes. Since we have a LL Multi on Wed, we decided to skip it.
We continued and stopped into Morocco and Japan, where we found Remi. In Japan, we looked through the stores. Nothing appealed for F&W at either stop. So we wandered over to America. Remi found, we then checked on the Eat to the Beat and it was Sugar Ray, who was literally just taking the stage (more Pixie Dust). There were great seats a couple rows from teh back, which was fine by us. They were wet so we took out our raincoats to sit on. The show was good and everyone sang along to the hits of Sugar Ray! Mark McGrath was all over the audience and very interactive. It was a good show. It started sprinkling a bit at the end but that was it.
Next up was Germany, where we got beers (me a Grapefruit hefeweizen and DW a Dunkel), plus the bread pudding. Mmmmm that bread pudding! There was plenty of seating, since it was getting dark. To be honest, the parks all seem pretty light in terms of crowds. That may be because the last trip was April during Spring Break! Those crowds were crazy, so maybe that is why these seem light. Not complaining at all. We sat there about 30 minutes, enjoyed our beer and pudding, then just watched people. When we were done, we decided it was time to wander back to the front and head back to Poly.
The walk back to the front was not comfortable with the heel issue, but I suffered through it. Ended up taking the moleskin off, as it was at that point part of the problem. I feared that this was not going to be a good thing - day 2 of 10. My arch in my foot was also pretty tender. Who buys new shoes and then wears new socks with them on a trip? I am still mad at myself. I do love the new shoes though, cute pink Aesics!! LOL
We took the monorail back to TTC, and walked from there to the room. Since we are at the very end of Tokelau by the beach, it is an easy walk. We got back around 9:30 and went to our room. I wanted to get the tennis shoes off. We wer about to jump in the shower when we heard the MNSSH fireworks start. DW said you want to go watch? It was 10pm. So, we trekked right outside the door and up onto the hill (think that is the handicapped viewing area). There were only 5 people up there (dust falling again). So we watched the firworks in full view and then walked back to room. The fireworks were good. And even up on that hill, the sound is there.
I showered, then doctored my heels - applying some peroxide we keep in the locker. I then added some antibiotic and a bandaid and hot they hay around 11. I read for about an hour and lights out at midnight. It was a great day. We did not go on a lot but just relaxed and were together, not working. We work so hard, our Disney time is the only time where during the day, the devices are off and we shut off the work world. That is har dto do as a business owner. Looking forward to tomorrow, which if we do as planned, is Hollywood Studios and Epcot. Great day, this is my happy place.

Thank you for taking the time to share your trip. Ten days at the Poly sounds like a wonderful time.
I made the shoe mistake one time on a trip to NYC, and wound up popping in to a Duane Reade drugstore to buy flip flops. My feet couldn't take the heel blisters, I was miserable.

Except for your heels - sounds like a great start!!! Thank you for taking the time and sharing.
New shoes/sandals on vacation/especially walking all day...definitely a no no - take care of them so you can enjoy the rest of your trip or have some other comfortable shoes that won't effect your heels make them worse the next day or so.

Ouch on the feet! I hope you have a spare pair of shoes that don't rub where the blisters are.
I remember one time I had on a pair of sandals and I got a cut right thanks to my luggage right where that specific type of sandal rubbed. Wearing bandaids only worked so far because they would just get wet and fall off. So I wound up buying a pair of shoes the nearby mall that I could wear and not rub where the cut was. Now I'm always good about bringing multiple styles of shoes.

Thanks for sharing your trip! Hope your heels feel better soon. Did you bring a spare pair of shoes? Yes. Another new pair of shoes. Not smart. And flips flops, but the heels are doing fine now. Double band-aids doing the trick.

DAY 3 – Hollywood Studios & Epcot - Sep 3, 2024
We woke up around 9am after a great night sleep, then ate a causal breakfast. Again, took our time and worked for an hour. We headed out the door to take the bus to Hollywood Studios around 11.
When we got to the bus stop, we realized we forgot to grab more water for the bag. I looked at the time board and had 11 minutes until the bus was coming. Could I make it there and back? Yup. Got back in 6 min (I may have jogged a bit) and good thing. As I was walking back up the bus was pulling up. I had zero seconds to spare as the bus was 5 min early!! Off we went to HS. Again, no lines to get in. The previous day, I got tagged to go through bad search every time I went through a scanner. The last time, the CM told me it was likely the glasses case I was carrying. Today, no case, no stops. Lesson learned. We headed down Grand Avenue toward MRR. The line was 45 min, so we decided to keep walking and stretch our legs more.
The crowds seemed light again. We headed into Batuu first and wanted to check on Rise of the Resistance to see how long the line was. It said 45 min, so we decided to do it. I am not sure how they judge that time, but we essentially walked through most of the que without stops. I think it took maybe 20 min before we were headed in to the room with Ray and BB8.
The ride is always great, it is one of our favorites. The last Kylo Ren scene, Kylo was not working, and the panel was down so you could not see him. Otherwise, the ride was excellent as always. The CM were really spicey too, today. When we got off the ride, the wait said 25 minutes, so we decided to go on it again. This time, I think it took 10 minutes to get into Ray’s room.
When we got off, the ride wait was still 25 minutes but twice was enough, we were hungry and wanted to go search out some lunch. We stopped by Ronto Roasters, but passed and instead went to Docking Bay 7. I ordered the Hot Tip Yip, which was godo as always but a bit spicey today. DW ordered the Fried Chicken Tip Yip and said the chicken was good but the vegetables were not good. I tried some and she was right, they were not great and very al dente. After we ate, we checked in at Olga’s hoping to grab a couple of drinks, but the wait was 2 hours, so we kept going. The stage show was starting as we walked through, so we watched it a bit, then moved on. We walked out of Batuu and into Toy Story Land, where we decided not to ride anything, as we were not wanting to wait in lines, and these were the longest by far we had seen. That park is just busy – it is simply too small in our opinion.
From there, we walked up and over to Mickeys Runaway Railroad, which said 40 min wait. The wait was about 25 minutes. The ride was fun as always. After the ride, we decided to go to the Frozen Singalong. It is always so much fun and we sang out hearts out and loved the Florida snowstorm!
When we walked out it was pouring! We went into the shop to put on our raincoats, as we wanted to walk to the shops to wait out the rain. It slowed down quickly and ended in less than 10 minutes. We did not see anything we had to have, so we decided to head out to Epcot. We took the boat, since there was rain and such, thinking it was the safest bet at this point. Got there in about 25 minutes. We went in the back gate and decided to go to the left, since we already did the right a bit the previous day. We noticed no booths the last few times in England. Guess they are not playing F&W. We stopped and looked in the shops at Canada, found Remi but passed on the food.
We then strolled over to see the food choices by the entrance of the lands. We decided to get the Bison and roasted vegetables. They were both just ok, nothing to write home about. The veggies were simply too sweet, and I like sweet. The bison was cooked well and flavorful, but it was just ok. The rain was starting to head back in, so we decided to head out and make it an early night, maybe catch the fireworks from the Poly beach.
We took the monorail back and went to the room to chill for a bit and watch the bachelorette finale (which was awful – we normally do not watch – now we know why). There was a lot of thunder and we did not hear any fireworks at 9. Around 9:30, they started up, so obviously a rain delay. We skipped going out and hit the hay early.
It was a good day. Blisters seemed to be handled with double Band-Aids, so they were not a problem. I am having a little arch issue with these new Asics though. So very tender when I get off my feet and then walk again. This too shall pass. Tomorrow is full day at Epcot with first time using LL Multi, so we shall see how that goes.
