We decided to go a bit earlier in Jan... we get there NYE, and I booked a suite at the Hilton across from Disney Springs. We haven't stayed here yet, so even tho it's off-Disney, it's new to us. Tentatively we're going to do the cake-decorating experience and a day at Blizzard Beach. If we're feeling adventurous, we'll take the Hilton bus to AK and BB bus from there. If we're not feeling it... Uber. What else would you do w a couple days to enjoy with very little planned around DS? We'll be on Sorcerer Pass blockout days, so no Epcot or MK till the 3rd.

Firstly, have a back up planned for a water park. 2 years ago it was literally freezing at Epcot; admittedly that was Christmas Eve but thee was a single day it was warm enough to swim in 2 weeks! My suggestions for the evenings would be Yee Ha Bob @ POR, Jelly Rolls or Hoop De Doo. You could take resort buses / boats from Disney Springs and back. For NYE itself I would book something at DS, to avoid the traffic getting anywhere on property. During the days you could resort hop and see the decorations. Epcot resorts - BC, YC & BW AKL Monorail resorts & WL Checkout the Carolwood Pacific lounge at BRV too. Maybe book a sleigh ride at Port Orleans or FW. Again you could do them all using Disney buses.

We go to WDW every NYE. Weather is so unpredictable that time of year. Some years, it can be in the 80's and some years it can be in the 30's. I recall on one NYE trip it even had snow flurries.
Nicky gave a whole bunch of great suggestions. I 100% agree with not driving on NYE, the roads are jammed and people are nuts. We did the fireworks cruise last year and it was freezing out. We were all frozen to our core after the trip. We had done that in years past and weather was great.
On NYE, some parks will hit capacity and off-property guests will get shut out...parking lots will be closed.

All good ideas! We're hoping for pleasant weather, but we can't control that. If it's open, we'll go to BB for a day. The other day, we want to stay pretty local to DS... Yeeha Bob I found out about here a few years ago, and have gone to his show twice since.
Carolwood Pacific lounge - I'd never heard of this before! We're definitely stopping by here when we're at WL later in the week.
We're not planning to drive, and just hang out around the DS area.

The most unexpected and easy place to be onNYE …but don’t tell anybody… The Atlantic Dance Hall was Open last year for NYE with no cover charge and DJ and Bar and music & the CountDown on balcony outside with view of EPCOTFireworks at midnight ! And super easy walk home if you are staying at the Swan that night

This is true....In fact (but a sad reality) not crowded when its open any time of the year. When we at WDW a few weeks ago, we walked past the Atlantic Dance Hall and both of us were still surprised that it was still open and that it was a ghost town.

Something else to do....Last year, we went over to Swan & Dolphin and played miniature golf. They have two courses and the are fantastic! They are very hard courses to play too.
Twice in the past 5 years, we also have played a round of golf. I am not a golfer at all, but it was actually a lot of fun playing and goofing off.

That’s what made it so fun … I have only entered this place for the DVC Halloween Invite We also hung out there the night before and decided it was so much fun and EPCOT was boring on NYE We decided to go back . In future I only want MK for NYE cause I love crowds BUT big change this year going to Universal First time CityWalk NYE ! I’m expecting crazy and won’t be disappointed !
CityWalk at Universal has a great miniature golf course . Hollywood Drive In Golf
but if you are exploring the Swan and their golf course I recommend entering the new Swan Reserve to have a drink It’s fun to explore and love going up up up their escalator ! Haha

Also trying to figure out where the cake decorating experience is … Is there a different one at Disney Springs… than the $$$Cake Bake Shoppe? Maybe. Cupcake decorating ?
I guess Amorettes Patisserie has the experience for $199 makes the Cake Bake shoppe for $240 more reasonable and delectable choice .
