Say you've got a reservation for a trip upcoming, and it uses banked points you have to use up, current points, and you had to borrow just a few from the next UY. I'm sure we've all done this.
Then later you borrow a few more, but then LATER that doesn't work out and you are stuck with borrowed points in that UY that you can't bank again.
But you CAN use them on that trip you already planned.
I've read that if you use the online modification tool and modify the trip, but don't change any of the dates, it will recalculate the points used for that trip, essentially using those few extra borrowed points you borrowed, and less of the current points. Anybody have any experience with this? I read that and thought, that SEEMS to make sense and it SEEMS like it should work, without having to call.
