Say you've got a reservation for a trip upcoming, and it uses banked points you have to use up, current points, and you had to borrow just a few from the next UY. I'm sure we've all done this. Then later you borrow a few more, but then LATER that doesn't work out and you are stuck with borrowed points in that UY that you can't bank again. But you CAN use them on that trip you already planned. I've read that if you use the online modification tool and modify the trip, but don't change any of the dates, it will recalculate the points used for that trip, essentially using those few extra borrowed points you borrowed, and less of the current points. Anybody have any experience with this? I read that and thought, that SEEMS to make sense and it SEEMS like it should work, without having to call.

I'd love to know that answer to this. I have some banked points that I need to use that got returned when I cancelled a reservation. I know points can be re-allocated as long as it's more than 30 days out from the reservation you want to modify. I prefer to communicate with DVC through the chat feature. I wonder if this could be done that way.

Yes, it will re-allocate the points used.
However if you have multiple contracts then I don’t know what happens. In that case you might want to call.

I have done this and it works I'm glad to hear this. This happened to me last year and since it was just 4 points I let it go because I didn't have the time or patience to call. But I sure do hate to "waste" points if I don't have to.

I did seem to have issues doing this with multiple contracts. It doesn't always pull right so I wind up calling to reallocate properly. Not sure if it has been fixed or not.

This happened to me last year and since it was just 4 points I let it go because I didn't have the time or patience to call. Oh man 4 points, I lost 7 one time by a stupid mistake and I felt like crap. Forgot to bank.
