Ugh, I am sick, sick, sick with a sinus infection and feel like a dumpster fire and I leave for WDW on May 1. I am hoping this Augmentin I got yesterday kicks in really quickly.

Thanks everyone. The Augmentin seems to be starting to kick in. Thankfully we have a nasty rainy day--super for taking a nap and still taking it easy.

So I go out to the garage to get the staple gun and pick what staples I want in there. I want a size I don't normally use, so it's further back in the drawer. I note how cool the boxes look, they would be ones my dad bought, so logos and stuff are from decades past. Then I notice the price tag - Menard's, $1.18. That's cool. Then I realize something even better - they are boxes. Cute little cardboard boxes. Then I think about the finish nailer I bought probably 17 years ago - the nails came in cute little cardboard boxes, I still have some. They are perfect little square packages that stack neatly on the shelf. Also my Kreg screws used to come in little cardboard boxes. And I remember getting super tiny one-inch-square boxes of wood screws at the hardware store. Now everything comes in gaudy plastic packages.
I can even find the box for my vintage staple gun, from a flea market - it came in a cigar-box style of box, cardboard.
Progress, right?

This morning on the radio I heard "Monster Mash", it made my day. I just think that's an awesome song, not just some October 31 kitsch.
And before you satellite radio people get all into yourselves, saying "yeah 60s-on-6 plays that" or whatever, I'm talking about the real, honest-to-goodness FM radio. One station I listen to, the guy always does a "today in rock history" segment, turns out today in 2007 Bobby "Boris" Pickett passed away and he played "Monster Mash" as the song of the day.
One day years back while driving the school bus, I had just unloaded the luckily-still-sleeping junior high kids and was driving away empty, turned on the radio and caught him saying, "and now for the song of the day, here's the Chairman of the Board himself" and he played Sinatra doing "That's Life" OMG I freaked out.

I had this hand-me-down electronics kit from Radio Shack when I was a kid, it had a thing to build a radio. It was just a crystal radio, with that little earpiece like it's 1920. But it did work.

Now you should say, "What's a Radio Shack?"

Now you should say, "What's a Radio Shack?" Radio Shack. My mom set up the first computer lab at her school all on her own with Radio Shack computers. She secured the funding as well. Impressive on all fronts.
