I AM!!!!
I have Father’s Day dinner under control and tomorrow hopefully we will trim the shrubs without Bill trying to take off a leg. We will ward off our crazy neighbors who yell at us with headphones and pretend we can’t hear them!! They go nuts when we trim them … They are insane.

Trimming shrubs is healthy for the bush Honestly, if a neighbor was bold enough to tell DH how to maintain his lawn, it wouldn’t end well. Pretty sure they would never say a word to us again!

We will ward off our crazy neighbors who yell at us with headphones and pretend we can’t hear them!! They go nuts when we trim them … They are insane. What are they going nuts about? Trimming shrubs is healthy for the bush Honestly, if a neighbor was bold enough to tell DH how to maintain his lawn, it wouldn’t end well. Pretty sure they would never say a word to us again! They want our shrubs for privacy in their yard. We cut them off fence high so they don't get out of control. Getting on a ladder and cutting shrubs ain't in my wheel house and Bill can't do it standing on the ground. He has 9 stitches from 1/1/2023. Might have been cheaper to hire someone for that trim job. I always did the trimming, but I have a bad shoulder now and can't anymore. They look 100% better now after cutting them...all filled in nice and pretty. I'd like to light them all on fire though still. I'm over shrubs. Hate 'em. The skinny ugly pines drive me nuts. They are super close to our house and I worry they will come down on the house. I haven't had the stubbornness to submit to replace them thru the HOA. I might the pines with something that actually does provide shade. But, it's a row behind several houses so I fear my $25 will be for nothing. The one couple reported us to the HOA for cutting them because they said that's why their dogs bark. Our neighbor to the side of us reported them for dogs barking CONSTANTLY. Had to be someone else's fault. It was all because of us cutting off the shrubs. The other couple next to them also wants our shrubs for privacy and shade in their yard. They just go nuts when we go out there and the lady tells us what's ugly and what to replant. Their dogs bark too, but they are under control and don't bark constantly. This lady went after the people hired to trim by our neighbors to the other side of us who we share this line of shrubs with. I guess it got ugly; we weren't home at the time. This is the same lady who backed out of her driveway into Bill when he was sitting in the street waiting for a truck in our 2 month old car. She got out and started screaming at him because it was all his fault for sitting in the street. Both couples are something else.... Bill said...I can't believe it; we never had issues with our neighbors in Iowa and now this. His memory is short. I reminded him of the meth lab that was in the house behind us in Iowa That was a thrill! Some day for fun I may go cut them off at different heights, but I do know that might cause a stir at the HOA office so I will behave...at least for now.

The one couple reported us to the HOA for cutting them Makes me laugh because I have this ridiculously overgrown hedge and I was talking to the neighbor and I said something to the effect of "I should cut them down to the ground." He shrugged his shoulders and said, "Go for it" Then told me a story of somebody that lived there 20 years prior that cut them all down to the ground and they grew back in like two years. At this moment they are over ten feet tall and there is a robin and babies in there so I'm glad I didn't go roaring in there with my gas trimmer.

Anyone else ready for Friday? Always. As for shrubbery, I still say pave it all.

BTW, they didn’t get far with the HOA. We can trim as we like. The different levels though would more than likely cause a stir.

We‘ve had crazy neighbors in the past. Been blessed with this house though, both sides super nice and fortunate with no one behind us. But in your situation, I’m sure my hubby would let them grow nice and tall for the neighbor to see, and then sculpture them in the shape of a middle finger! Lol!!! Good thing we voted out our HOA as that’s a struggle in itself.

We're lucky to have great neighbors. There was a ratty fence on one side the the neighbor simply put in a really nice one on their own.
On the other side, an old fence fell down years back. The neighbors have been living abroad and renting the place. The old fence was replaced with a chain link. On a hill with brush in front, but not attractive.
They cam back for several months and, in addition to undertaking major pruning on their property, and at the property line, they decided that the chain link had to go and a nicer fence needed to go there.
They talked with us about it and we agreed on just what should go there. Then we had to talk them into letting us pay for half. Very nice work and great neighbors.for a change.
Cheers.

Neighbors are interesting. We've always gotten along with neighbors, or ignored them - another way of getting along. At our former home one guy always half cut his yard and would then abandon his mower like a lawn ornament. He had a heart problem so we didn't say much other than offer to finish the cut, which he always refused. So when we moved we were amused to have a similar neighbor, who was not as nice, and has since moved to be replaced by a nicer family who mow. One of the nice parts of moving was not having to be fenced. The first home was a 'Pet Semetary' traffic situation so a fence was required. Our current home is two turns away from a main thoroughfare. A few years back I noticed my better half going at the scrubs in the back with a string trimmer. LOL He says the shrubs get to him when they look messy. To me they just look like scrubs but I was raised with letting the scrubs/plants go wild. My dad would ride around on the mower and that was it. He'd blaze through the rotting apples - bees everywhere - drinking and mowing. Occasionally we'd hear a gunshot, which was his way of handling groundhogs, skunks and racoons. Not sure how my husband would've handled a Dad quality neighbor but I know he appreciated all the help he gave us with leveling the yard, finding the property boundaries (I forget what that called), helping the cement pour for the front porch, laying the blacktop for the drive, etc. I miss my Dad.
Happy Father's Day!!
