That's a good idea with HBO (Max), think I may do the same.  Actually think I'm supposed to have Max included as part of my AT&T cell service, from back before AT&T sold them off.  I'll check that first...






Saw some of that on the news this morning.  Horrible.

Don't.  It's bad.  

We honeymooned in HW too, and when we were in Maui, we drove to Lahaina. This is going on 41 years ago so Maui was not as built up as it is today. We were told to be very careful in Lahaina once the sun went down. It was fun with great shops and it was one of our last days. After eating Mahi Mahi (which back then was not really in the states), it became a joke that almost every dinner we were told and our fresh fish this evening is Mahi Mahi prepared, however the chef was doing it. We really wanted Italian.
Someone in Lahaina told use to go down this block looks like a house, go to the back, go up the steps and it would be the best Italian food. It was called Alex’s Hole In the Wall. We did which thinking back being in a tourist, maybe not the smartest, but I think it was a jewelry shop keeper who told us.
Well I can tell you, it was great! I lived where we had some of the best Italian food plus both my husband and I are half Italian so we grew up with grandmothers, mothers, aunts cooking Italian. Learned my grandmothers (she was from Cecily) lasagna recipe when I was 15 as she said, more, that’s enough, since they never had exact measurements. If you were going to learn it had to be a in person cooking class, hearing a little more, that’s enough. I am picky to what is good Italian food. That’s how I learned my mothers meatballs, sausage and Sunday Gravy/Sauce. Depending what part of the country one is from is it sauce or is it gravy….
After dinner we strolled through a few shops, then the sun went down. Oh they were right at the resort. It seemed lots a characters were on the streets. We were looking at shops windows and it had a hallway, think windows for merch on both sides and a walkway to the store door. Two girls came up to us and said, can we please just stay with you for a few. Two guys have been following us for a few blocks. Of course, and we escorted them into the store and stayed there till they ditched them.
I can say we were in a parking lot behind the stores a few blocks from the shops and for my husband to say. Stay here, I will get the car and pick you up? If I’m not back in 5 minutes, call the police. Huh, slightly joking which I didn’t find funny. My husband was a cop in one of the worst cities in the nation, nothing like being in the top 3 for crime and homicides for several years in a row, yay. I’m the one, who would be like I’m not going there or this is not safe, he would be… it’s fine. So for him to not want me walking with him to get the car said a lot of what he was seeing because he wasn’t paranoid and would take in a situation whereas me, I’m like yea no this is scary, lol.
Obviously, we ended back at the hotel safe, but we have watched travel shows through the years and been like seriously look how much it’s been built up. When we were staying in Maui the Hyatt wasn’t even finished or just opened, so the resort we stayed at was one of the best at the time.
I did get home and my parents picked us up. She said, I smell garlic😳, what? I smell garlic. No I didn’t eat anything with garlic, but we ate at an Italian restaurant last night. Ouch. They say garlic can come out in the skin. But the dish I had it was a veal dish which for even good restaurants is hard to pull off. I did not taste an overdosing taste of garlic… oh well. Because I don’t like when on seasoning or taste overwhelms a dish.

I can’t imagine, running into the ocean to escape the fire. It is sad. Glad we spent the extra, when everyone said why HW, it’s too expensive you can go to the islands and when you are older you can go…. I haven’t been back, would love to but the plane ride. But at least we got to do it and it was beautiful.

As in The Garlic in New Smyrna Beach called the Garlic. Well I guess I proved the chatty thread is one. And about The Garlic in NSB Fl, I will just post another post. When I speak of overwhelming tastes seasoning in dishes.

Happy Friday!  Back in the heat here in Florida from my trip to Michigan and I finally hit it right for warm weather in Traverse City! I was still a bit chilled in the mornings, but the afternoons were nice.  The last 2 summers, I seemed to pick when the highs hit only about 65.  I do not miss winter in the least.

Wife decided she wanted these blinds for the house, bamboo/matchstick shades that pull up on strings. We thought we'd start with the two windows in the bedroom, so I measure and go plug that info into the site. "On sale" 45% off brings them down to over $300 per window! We both said "whatever". I could literally buy a car for that.

Gonna have to pick something else out!

It has been far too hot this summer.  When we were boarding the plane it was down right cold in Michigan yesterday at least for me when the outside air hit us close to the actual plane.  When they opened the door to the plane in Tampa everyone could feel the humidity.  Some lady deplaning in Michigan said as she walked by the crowd boarding…”Good luck, it’s way to hot down there.  If you live there, I don’t know how you do it.”
