Great post johnb. We are very much fans of the 01-09, and even a little beyond, rooms. We've gotten 5th floor several times, both studio and 1BR. We're Ok with the longer walk. The view far more than makes up for it. Stairs are critical. The 01 area is near the building end stairs that are great, although onto the canal. Cheers. |

Definitely recommend the 5th floor. This puts one over by the Crest O' The Wave section. Numbers 5001-5013ish.
There are two we don't like. These are in the red part of the building where there are solid walls for balcony rather than railings so harder to see when sitting. I always forget the numbers, and I had a link to a great post showing a map of all the room numbers looking at them from the Boardwalk so it was easy to tell. Alas, it was on MO so the images are not accessible.
I've looked a bit for other sites that might have this, but haven't found any so far.

Have you tried searching on Touring Plans? I’ll see if they have views from any of those room numbers. Even if they aren’t all there it might rule some of them out. |

Thanks nickys . I did look at TP, but didn't do as thorough a job as you did. I knew about the lower rooms as they are under Crest o' the Wave. It's the red part of the building, above the general store, that is the issue. 5013 sticks in the memory. And looking at the link you sent, the other is 5015. Both studios. The wall is visible in the images on TP. A little less clear in 5015, but the top of it can be seen.

This is my first time hearing about the Touring Plans room finder view thing. I pulled up a room at OKW we had recently, just to look. I noticed it had a little link at the top that said something like "have a picture from this room? Email it to us"
Anybody ever done that?

We were trying to add a January Boardwalk reservation and saw no availability at all. We first thought it was the refurb. However, when we called in, we were told that the refurb of the rooms was expected to be completed by December 2023. So either we were given wrong information, or there's an IT glitch. We've never had to waitlist at 11 month mark for 1BR's at BWV before. Curious to see what this turns out to be.

I noticed it had a little link at the top that said something like "have a picture from this room? Email it to us" Anybody ever done that? Yes! That’s how they build up their catalog of room views. They get room descriptions from Disney, but there are some known discrepancies too, usually when the room categories are redone. But you can let them know if the description they have is wrong too. |

As an aside, and may or may not be coincidental, but twice when we booked pool/garden view because bw view was unavailable, and waitlisted for bw view, the waitlist came through and we got the same room both times. 2047; it's a wheelchair accessible studio in the first group of rooms that are bw view; the balcony is over the Screen Door entrance. This made me think that they hold the wheelchair accessible room open in case it is requested, then release it if it isn't needed. Location-wise it's a good room, because the stairs that let out by the ATM are really close, the walk to the lobby is short, both or which make the walk to Epcot and DHS easier. But it does have the solid wall balcony, and you get noise from people on the boardwalk.

Update on inventory- It looks like all the standard studios, 1BR, 2BR, & 3BR out of inventory for January. Unsure if this is permanent and all will stay out of inventory or not. But we confirmed with our assigned DVC sales rep. He said some may come back as they finalize the remodel schedule. But perhaps they're rushing a lot of big work in January vs other more popular times?
