We live in South Louisiana and one year we thought WDW could not be worse than here. Boy, were we wrong. I had a very similar thought. We live in the Southern Rio Grande Valley of Texas-furthest southern point in the Continental US and HUMID!!! So I figured WDW would certainly be tolerable for me in August. Afterwards I told DH that if I ever mention going to Disney World in August again, slap me in the head. Much as I love WDW, I do not love WDW in August. Thank goodness we had a GF studio lake view. My best day was sitting in the air conditioning watching the boats all day.

My best day was sitting in the air conditioning watching the boats all day. We live in Houston which is very HOT and HUMID in the summer. I am hoping that we will just treat it like we do here in August. We can do things in the morning and the evenings, but most of the afternoon hours will be a no go for us unless it is pool time. I don't think we can handle the heat and humidity better because of where we live. Rather, I think we know what to expect and can plan accordingly and adjust expectations. This is a just a random added trip before the kids are back in school to take advantage of quite a few nighttime events. We have tickets for DAH at Epcot and TL, and I am hoping to get into the MM at AK too. We actually decided to come the day earlier than we were originally planning because we can get in the evening before and go to DS and just grab dinner with no theme park that night so that we are rested for the next day AND have a hotel room for the entire stay. We have so many fun trips planned this summer that I am excited for school to end like a little kid!

Its already pretty dang hot where you are coming from. Since you know what your family can handle in that climate, I am sure you will be fine. Like I said earlier, I had the same attitude about the heat but have softened. Honestly, I utilize Genie+ and Lightning Lanes so that we don't have to stand in lines for long without AC anyway. We only deal with the heat when walking into/out of the park and from ride to ride. Its very manageable when you break that up with air conditioning inside of the ride areas most of the time.

LOL, no you're not nuts! DH and I went for a long weekend last year over Labor Day because that's when we could get child care to leave the kiddos at home! We started bright and early each morning and took a LONG AC break after grabbing an early lunch in the parks. We also used those cooling towels (I don't know what they are called) and found them to be very helpful!
