Since covid I noticed this really changed with room requests. I tried TPs option for years and now find it utterly useless. I've asked resorts and they are not listing requests there at least for DVC.
The last number of trips I've run some tests and truthfully after such good results this trip I figured I'd share. I simply do the contact form for email on the DVC site when logged in and send my requests in via the form. I think seeing texts actually help them know what I want.
I had 2 studios at SSR for the first part. Traveling together was the first request. The second was close to Carriage House and third was grandstand. They nailed the first two. We were in Paddock (really was one I thought about asking for anyway) close to the Carriage house for us. We were in the same building, same floor and just down the hall. When I checked in they had noted the Traveling Together and said they wouldn't likely reassign if we didn't like the building because of it even with us arriving on different nights. I loved the location. Easy walk to the main building and choice of 2 stops.
Our second part was PVB. Third floor was my request. Granted. Stunning view. Loved it!
So there is my advice. Just email. Skip TP unfortunately and good luck.

For years, we kept a contact list (phone/email) for the back of house staff at various resorts, to make our room requests. For the most part, this worked very well for us and we mostly got the room and view we wanted for each stay. The past few years, we just email the Club and they take care of everything for us. Making the request when making the reservation never seemed to work. Contacting Disney about 10 days out seemed to work the best.

TP request did us well 2-3 times then did a complete 180. It felt like the room we got was assigned out of spite for us using TP, nowhere near what we'd requested (both DVC and WDW resort rooms). So we stopped using TP and started using the chat (when available) or contact us/email to DVC, and it's been better.

The last time I tried requesting a room - April 2021, PVB - I did it through TP, and got the exact opposite of the request. I was bummed enough to even check with the makeshift front desk to see if we could be moved (there wasn't).
Turned out to be one of my favorite rooms on property. Wanted top floor Moorea; got 1st floor, right across from the laundry. Never had an issue with elevator noise and with no neighbors to the right it was quiet and peaceful the whole time. My lesson: there aren't bad rooms (especially if you're paying for a view), just less-perfect ones, and I'm good with that.

Thanks for the tip!! We usually don't make requests before hand, but last time, used chat on DVC, and got the opposite. We have a tentative stay booked in early June for SSR....haven't stayed there since our first DVC stay in 2011, but this will likely be a resort stay, Not sure what to request. (currently no park tickets, so want easy access to DS, but if something changes, would want the best bus stop location, )

I looked through these posts, but I don't think anyone has spelled out what is "TP" in this context (folks seem to know).
I've had pretty good luck calling a little while in advance (several months) or going to the resort on a prior trip and putting in the request for an upcoming trip.
The only request we ever have is for BW and the BWV rooms where we want 5th floor. Works maybe half the time.
Cheers.

For the most part, this worked very well for us and we mostly got the room and view we wanted for each stay. The past few years, we just email the Club and they take care of everything for us. Making the request when making the reservation never seemed to work. Contacting Disney about 10 days out seemed to work the best. 10 days is now too late for room requests for us not using extra help (sometimes I do kick myself for hesitating on Club 33 and others I'm still glad I didn't) . I don't do it at booking but just over a month out. That's a more recent change though - moving from about a week out to 30 days. Coincidentally that's when TP really started failing for me. I swear I had the same results. Since I'm not hugely picky the last number of trips I've set up tests to see and check in has confirmed no requests processed for me. So just luck I had opposite but truly just no room requests were recorded. This trip we are on, my room request was granted - received upper floor 4/5 th floor at BCV! I has that once at BCV and they put me on 3rd floor. I actually loved the room though. But that was years ago too when you could do generic requests like that on the web. The last time I tried requesting a room - April 2021, PVB - I did it through TP, and got the exact opposite of the request. I was bummed enough to even check with the makeshift front desk to see if we could be moved (there wasn't). Turned out to be one of my favorite rooms on property. My lesson: there aren't bad rooms (especially if you're paying for a view), just less-perfect ones, and I'm good with that. I've been 1st floor Moorea at the request of my aunt and like you I loved the room. The 3rd floor view was lovely but had the worst neighbors in terms of sound. And one kept leaving their gross toothpaste smelly towels on the floor outside the door. Yuck. White noise drowned them out lol Thanks for the advice. Last two times we used TP and got the opposite of what we requested. Same! Thanks for the tip!! We usually don't make requests before hand, but last time, used chat on DVC, and got the opposite. (currently no park tickets, so want easy access to DS, but if something changes, would want the best bus stop location, ) What room type are you booked for? We were in Paddock by the bus stop for carousel which was great. Husband missed a bus there but could make it on the same bus at Springs. Congress Park is preferred and closest to DS. We'll be back in early June as well. Touring Plans room request feature Thanks. I've heard of Touring Plans here; never looked at it. Cheers. I use them for other info, just now officially done with room requests from them.

Thanks for the info! I am going to try that for our trip next month.
We'll be at SSR and the online check-in options have changed since the last time we stayed there. It used to let you select Grandstand, Carousel, Paddock, near bus stop or near pool. They took out Paddock and Carousel and replaced it with near Carriage House. I really want to request Paddock. We like that area a lot.

We like that area a lot. I do like Paddock as well. I was hoping Grandstand or Paddock when I booked but traveling together was more important. When I had booked it was going to be just me and my son and then my dad decided to join so we needed another room. Even a 1 bedroom wouldn't give me the space and such I wanted, so I was grateful that they did so well given us traveling together. We have another trip coming up and so far I have no requests (CCV). I'm not sure I have any real requests anyway.
