I got an odd call from an Orlando number. Figured it was a timeshare scam thing, and I often don't answer. This time I did.
Turns out it was from someone who's actually in Anaheim who is now my "guide" since my former "guide" retired.
I mentioned that I didn't have a "guide," but I guess I have one now.
Talked about providing information about the new property at Disneyland, but I mentioned that we don't go to Disneyland.
I guess we have a "guide" now.
Can I assume that if I never contact him, I won't hear from him?
Cheers.

What happens is even if you purchase with another guide, they will still get some commission. So, even if you never transpire with them again, they are yours and will still get commission from ant future purchases.

Save something like a cruise or doing something in person where your assigned guide is not available, they will just transfer you to your old guide. If you want a different guide you can and old is dissociated from you.

If we were even to make another purchase, our only "guide" would be the resale company we bought from.
Cheers.

My “guide” occasionally sends mailers with special promotions. I think that he may have called once and left a “welcome home” message on the answering machine in the Villa. He really never bothers us. You should be safe.

We hear from our guide essentially twice a year. Once on our anniversary of buying DVC, and once if we have an upcoming trip (like, a week or two out) inviting us to stop by whatever the nearest DVC kiosk is or set a tour up with them, if interested. I never am but hey, it's nice to know someone is there I suppose.

About thirteen months ago, I used the online "add-on tool", currently found at disneyvacationclub.disney.go.com/add-vacation-points , to inquire about add-on points at AKV. Our long-term guide, with whom DW and I have interacted since we joined DVC more than a decade ago and whom we like, contacted us promptly, based on our add-on tool use. He offered a time-limited discount offer (i.e., better than the web page default price), which we subsequently decided to accept. YMMV, but friendly long-term relationships with some DVC guides are possible; we appreciate ours.

In the end, I know that this is just a sales person, and that's what the relationship is based upon. As long as they basically leave me alone, I can likely tolerate having a dedicated timeshare sales person.
Cheers.

My original guide answered 10 years of questions from me before I actually made the purchase. She was patient, didn’t bother me other than an occasional call when there was a deal and I made sure she got credit for every point I have. When she retired, I was assigned a new guide located in Aulani (or so she says). This relationship consists of “Welcome Home” calls and the occasional flyer. I’m happy with that.

Our original guide left DVC and now runs a resale business. Otherwise, I have only receive 1 call a couple years ago by a subsequent replacement guide.

Also got a call from “Terry” who said he was my new guide and wanted my ok for him to send his contact info. I said “ok.” I assume I’ll hear from him when the next DVC goes on sale. Maybe I’ll answer.

Used to hear from mine on occasion when I was on property (though still no more than once or twice a year). Now I never do. Oh well. Could be that I used to occasionally answer the phone in room and now I never do... Hmmm. Oh well.

In the twenty one years that we’ve owned DVC I believe our guide has called us exactly once. We’re probably due for another call soon lol.

I inquired about the new tower at VGC last month- while getting me DVC chapstick lol.
They said that the guides have to be licensed by the state of California and that only some guides in WDW were. They asked my guides name and said “oh he has been there forever you’re going to have to go through him. Honestly I was kinda impressed that they don’t step on each others toes.

FWIW, I think right now DVC is flooded with inventory and are telling the sales people to start cold calling. Watched a YouTube last night and Disney has not ROFR’d in almost 3 months. With DLH and the new Poly2 about to enter into the already flooded inventory, I think we all may be hearing from our guides sooner then later.
