Just got my DD's AP....took 4 hours and 10 minutes, about 4 minutes of which was actually buying the AP! But I got it and I'm happy....the 45-minute wait posted at 10:15 turned out to be more like 25 minutes....the last 50+ minutes or so went very fast, much faster than the wait up til then....thanks for the sympathy...

Also my big old FB group is reporting that calling takes much less time than online. Which number? The website says Annual Passholder is (407) 939-7277 but is that to buy them or just if I already have one? Tickets are (407) 939-7679. Maybe that? At the moment both give me a recording that all circuits are busy. I've been in the queue for more than four hours now.

For those who are trying to buy annual pass right now and are stuck at more than hour queue online: Call 407-939-7679 (You'll have to call 20+ times) - and choose ticket (4 I think) -> annual pass (2 I think) Quoting the poster. Others tried and replied that they were successful

Site performance report #3 Service resumed, and passes were obtained at 9:23 AM -- Thanks, Mickey! Amazing that you had a very similar experience to many of us JUST LAST WEEK. Nothing like learning from your mistakes (this directed @ Disney IT dept). Yes. What I found puzzling was the yo-yoing of the wait times reported above: 13 --> 38 mins, and then later 11 --> "more than an hour." I can conceive of many possible explanations: e.g., + scheduled server withdrawals for maintenance, + special queue bypass for special customers admitted at a later time in westerly time zones (especially since one yo-yo occurred right around 8 AM EDT), + pauses for management to decide whether to authorize release of an additional tranche of passes, + periodic pauses to allow batch loading of online transactions from a server buffer to a different database system where cast members on phones had real time access, or vice versa, to avoid over-sale of passes, etc. All of those hypotheses may be dead wrong, but it would be nice to know the correct explanation. How I feel about Disney IT depends on the root cause. (E.g., a requirement for pass tranche release approvals would presumably fall on shoulders outside of IT.)

I read somewhere (don't remember where, but it wasn't Disney's site) that an AP "first use" (i.e., activation date) is not only the first time you go to a park, but your first use (i.e., discount or room booking at an AP rate) of the AP....probably worth checking on that.... Is there a place you to can go to see the "start date" of your AP? I booked a room with the AP discount, but I will be entering a park that same day. So I guess it doesn't make a difference in that case, but it could be important for some.

I was able to purchase one pass at a time so I could add memory maker to just one of them and use a gift card for a decent chunk of the balance. I didn't see a way to use more than one gift card. I did have to just go back in my browser after each in order to buy the next one. Thankfully, I had a back-up queue on my phone just in case things glitched out on me. It shouldn't be this stressful to give Disney a ton of money.

As of 3:30 Central nothing on the website says they have halted, just the notice on the VQ page that being in the queue does not guarantee you will be able to purchase one and "We anticipate a pass or select passes may become unavailable for purchase later today".

I was able to call DVC Member services today (this morning -- ~10:30am EST). Using the phone prompts, I was able to get to an agent and purchase 2 APs within 15 minutes. Yea!

Just reporting that 'the other place' raised the prices of their 2 top annual passes today. Guess in some sort of response to disney's selling. I was hoping they'd offer some nice deal, like 15 months for the price of 12 or whatever. . I kept putting off and putting off buying my son and me our APs, but meant to this week, just after getting the Disney ones done. and f$%k if they do this. shoulda, coulda, woulda.....Procrastination will get you nowhere! But I also did just buy the 2 of them, so they got their money,. Probably not get them for DH and DD, who don't plan on going in October.
