Pixar is releasing Elemental in June 16, Fathers day weekend. I just watched the trailer and looks like another Disney so-so movie is coming.
The trailer made the movie seem basic and predictable, been there - done that movie. It had the feel of a Zootopia copycat, but less. By the way, Zootopia was a great movie, IMO.
I only hope the movie is actually better when released, than what the trailer had shown.
At least I don't think the movie will be a flop like the last few Disney animations, it will make money. But based on the trailer, I don't see it being the "next" Disney classic either. Kids will enjoy the movie, parents will be mixed.

Anything has to be an improvement over “ Strange World”…..

Interesting graphics and the idea is neat. I do see a lot of slapstick one-liners the 10-12 year-olds will quote for days. The opening shot of the world made me think of "Zootopia" like you said...the characters made me think of "Inside Out" which I will admit that the scene where Bing-Bong "dies" made me cry like a baby and I'm in my 40s.
But I, personally, am tired of every Disney movie these days being "teenage kid disobeys parents and ventures out into a world where they are fish out of water, eventually parents grow to see it their way and teenage kid saves the day, proving it is okay to be different and that everyone will love you once they realize how unique and awesome you are."

I'll eventually watch. Not going to rush to see, but Disney hasn't given me a movie I really wanted to see since Zootopia (not counting SW stuff)

For me, I know it was a good movie when I watch it more then once. The last three animation movies from Disney/Pixar that had me watch multiple times were Incredibles 2 (2018), Coco (2017) and Moana (2016). Since 2018, Disney seems to have put out a bunch of half hearted junk or were a train wreck. For me, it seemed that the Disney movie lost its touch after 2019 release of Avengers End Game and Star Wars: the Rise of Skywalker. Since then, even the Marvel movies have been sliding in quality and content. I am hoping the Guardians of the Galaxy, coming out soon, is a return back to my expectations for a movie by Disney.

Very true! One that grabs me and makes me go to the movies is rare. Moana did but just never made it. Loved it. I did like Coco but not love love. The tradition felt foreign but too similar so I didn't connect as well as some. Incredibles 2 was good but I liked the original far more. I did like Encanto a lot. I get sucked into SW for nostalgic reasons. Only liked very few Avengers et al. But it's a genre thing not quality for me. My husband loves them though so I hope the new is good for him. As much as I love Moana I'm not excited for live action. I only cared for Cinderella and Aladdin off the top of my head. Not even Cruela was good to me. So my expectations are low.

Looks like Elemental will be another huge Disney flop......
$200m budget - projected break even needs to be around $440m-$500m
Opening weekend - $48m ($33m domestic + $15m international)
The Flash opened with $139m for the weekend, which is also considered a flop.
The only good news for Elemental is that the international opening was limited, giving Disney a chance to gain once it reaches the total movie market.

Just read that it got an A cinema score from movie goers and with no big family films coming up it might have legs. We saw it last night and all loved it. 3D was awesome! Took a while to get going but then it gets you.

The next big release will be Indiana Jones, being released June 30th. But it is rated PG-13. (violence and action).
We might see this movie, maybe not......depends on the grands. As of today, neither had interest in seeing the movie.

We have our tickets for this, July 4 because, well, it's Indiana Jones. Whether or not a good movie, it will be entertaining. And Tuesday's at this recliner theatre are only 8 bucks. Flash and Transformers are on the list as well.
I do want to see Elemental, but will wait for some streaming access. This doesn't need the big screen.
Cheers.

I'll eventually watch. Not going to rush to see, but Disney hasn't given me a movie I really wanted to see since Zootopia (not counting SW stuff) I see you have since mentioned this, but I wanted to reiterate how much I loved Encanto, which absolutely killed it in my opinion. That movie was so amazing and will stand as one of my favorites. Your statement is correct for me if I replace "Disney" with "Pixar" though.
Pixar has absolutely lost their way, and they are a far-cry from the Midas touch of the old days.

Just from the trailers, this movie reminds me so much of Inside Out, maybe it's the look of the characters, the idea that they're representing these elements that have to get along somehow? like Joy and Sadness. I do want to see this, but. Will wait for streaming. the 'kids' in the house are 16 and almost 19, so little need to see this at the show.
Now, Indiana Jones-YES! Even though 4 was so very disappointing (and I can't stand at all 2/Temple of Doom,) I'm excited to see how this all wraps up. .
I am excited to see the Flash, but will likely skip it at the movies, just wait. I missed seeing John Wick, and while you can buy/rent it now, I'll try and wait until Sept, when they predict it'll be streaming somewhere.
I just don't go to the show like I used to, maybe once/twice a year. Saw GotG 3 just to make sure I didn't get anything spoiled. It was great too on the big screen.

Loved Encanto. It just came out when movies were not on my radar to see in public at all. So nothing against it, but I just was meh on movie theaters at the time. If it had been earlier or later, I would've gone to see it. So maybe it's just bad luck for it all with that one with me. I have read decent on Elemental so I will watch but not rush to see. I haven't seen Strange World yet either. Pixar was talking about Toy Story 5. I'm like you need to apologize for TS4 first. Lightyear was cute but not the same anyway. TS4 was honestly horrible.
