We didn’t join until 2012 - resale AKV at $63/pt and resale GCV at $101/pt with only resale restrictions being that we can’t use points for cruises or the hotel collection hotels. Added on at VDH this year. Sure miss the old resale days.

I purchased in 2009. I see the new cabins as a "Super-Studio". For the cost of a high-point studio, I get a full kitchen and more space (including a deck and a grill). I wouldn't want to fill one up (sleep six), but for us and a couple Grandkids, yes Siree. I’m interested to know whether you’ll have the grandkids in the bedroom with you, or in the bedroom while you take the Murphy or put them in the Murphy bed? I’ve seen quite a lot of discussion around the various options, and all 3 have their supporters.

Added on at VDH this year. Sure miss the old resale days. My CCV points are my only restricted points now. Just means I cannot stay at the 2 newest resorts. No big deal to me. My original OKW obviously had no restrictions either. But my PVB points allow me to keep status if I sell. I'm unsure what to do with PVB add on for now if I decide to give some points away to my kid. I purchased in 2009. I see the new cabins as a "Super-Studio". I’ve seen quite a lot of discussion around the various options, and all 3 have their supporters. I've seen a lot who are used to sharing one room so layout isn't a concern for them. They're happy to share the bedroom with kids. Some I saw said giving kids bedroom and adults taking Murphy bed.

It would depend on age/gender/count of the kiddos.

Not for me! I have renters who are happy with 6 people in a studio and that is not a vacation for me! I need my personal space! When I was in my 20s, and even early 30s, this was cool. I'm a tad older than that and this will not fly.
Cheers.

I don't know, even in my 20 and 30s I liked my personal space, I guess I just don't like people that much.

I don't know, even in my 20 and 30s I liked my personal space, I guess I just don't like people that much. This was done with groups of folks that I really did like such as people I worked at concerts with for 20+ years. They were very different from me in many ways (still are) and that's why it was great. We all get together once a year to celebrate Bill Graham's birthday at the Fillmore in San Francisco and, all these years later, I can still see why it worked with those folks.
Cheers.

I see this working for parents with younger children. That’s about it.

I see this working for parents with younger children. That’s about it. I remember taking my son when he was 5 months old and thinking we could do one studio and be happy. We learned very quickly that one bedrooms were very important to us with extremely separate areas. We now go up to two bedrooms and started that when he turned three. So even some of us with young kids we like our space LOL I'm totally not going to judge the people who like to be all in one space though. Some really do want and appreciate that far more than I do. Different strokes for sure. But without a tub some people will not be very happy with this. Some people will be totally fine with it as well. It'll be interesting to see what age groups like this the most though.

I don't know that I've ever seen a mention of you working concerts. I worked for Clear Channel (now Live Nation) as a local runner for a few years. Someday maybe we can meet up @ WDW and swap stories.

I worked from about '89 - '05 (so I guess it was more like 16 years) and 1500 or so shows. I worked out the crowds, and occasionally backstage. But all lower key than running. That always seemed hard compared to what I was doing.
But, yes, that would be great to talk to someone who did this in a different setting.
Cheers.

I remember hiding out outside the popcentury room that first trip hoping the baby would fall asleep already. I think DH brought me a dinner from the quick service to eat and we sat outside on that horrible floor. but I have family members that would love this configuration. The lack of tub isn’t a problem either. They find it easier to shower the kid as soon as they can stand up. The DVC part of it is still a problem. They don’t plan things more than 2 months in advance usually.

I've been to several large concerts and one stadium show (swore off those after the one) but still prefer the smaller venues like the Greek, Santa Barbra Bowl or even the Hollywood Bowl (some but not many rock shows). Growing up in SoCal the best was small local bars which if you knew the right ones had incredible musicians that played and from time to time and the big names would wander in and sit in for a set or two. They probably can't do that anymore because now someone would post it and the place would be swarmed in minutes.

They don’t plan things more than 2 months in advance usually. We stupidly upgraded ourselves to the two bedroom for a big family trip and gave the second bedroom to my brother and my kid. My dad and aunt didn't want to share beds, so they had their own studio as well. That really spoiled us and that was truthfully the cause of us adding on in the next couple of years. We do studios if it is just me and my kid. Or obviously if it's just a solo trip. We are doing a one-bedroom for spring break this year with the three of us. We will see how much we like it. We have not done a one-bedroom with just us for more than a few nights in a long time. Kid takes longer showers now too so we'll see. If we do like it space wise enough, we could drop down to one bedrooms at PVB as long as they have the two bathrooms that we've seen in the plans.

We had a 1BR for our first ever DVC room, but only because all the studios were gone (we were going for a HS band trip so had a set date and didn't close on our contract until 6 months ahead). We loved all the space, and the laundry & kitchen - so we've never gone down to studios, even though that was the plan when we first bought DVC! We also have a kid who takes longer showers...but he also sleeps later than us so we just wake him when we're done.
