It's been about ten years since we've done the water parks. DD suggested doing one as a break from the parks in July. Since TL is open and BB is closed (yeah, it could change), and the last time we were at TL the Shark Reef was still open, I'm looking for tips/suggestions.
Is there a lounge chair/seating area that is shaded? This is a priority for me, and I don't want to pay for the umbrella chairs or a cabana.
Is it worth buying refillable mugs?
Is a locker a good idea, or should our stuff be reasonable secure? We won't have valuables.
Can I magic band all purchases?
Can I wear flip flops or water shoes on the slides (or remove them and hold them on my chest)? Walking on sidewalks barefoot in July is a big no.

We just went during spring break and I haven’t been to TL since I was young. We have two 10 year olds so we did pay for a cabana. There are a few areas that have shaded chairs. Looking back at it, I wouldn’t have done the cabana because it wasn’t busy.
Refillable mugs were an issue for us! I purchased a refillable adult beverage mug and had around 4 beers throughout the day so we saved a few dollars there. My wife and kids purchased their soft drink mugs. The CM told my wife they should keep them when they leave because the hotels will honor the refillable mug. We were at poly and when my wife went to get them refilled they told here they don’t honor the purchase at TL.
Your stuff will be secure. We put all of our stuff in a pool bag and had no issues.
Magic bands will work for all purchases but beware that you might want to take them off in the wave pool. My son lost his in it.
I would suggest water shoes. I THINK there were restrictions on some slides but I’m not 100%. My kids preferred water shoes over flip flops because they were more comfortable.
