For us, it's "these are not the droids we're looking for." I saw something clever yesterday - I saw a car in a parking lot that had custom license plate front and back, that said simply, "DROIDS" around which they had that plastic frame that usually says "My other car is a blank blank" or some car dealer. Well the top said "These are not the" and the bottom said "you are looking for". Front and back.

Well, I thoroughly enjoyed it and was totally entertained, which is all I require out of a movie--I don't need to pick it apart to enjoy it. Melissa McCarthy was fabulous as Ursula, but Sebastian was my favorite character. I totally agree. It was not a great movie as far as movies go, but it was entertaining and well worth seeing.

The Little Mermaid woes continue..... 11.6M domestic haul for the weekend 468m total domestic + international box office. The movie has made it to $499 million at the Box Office. Almost to the breakeven point, but its officially labeled a "loss" for Disney. At least this one will nearly breakeven and not hurt the bottom line.

Since this thread has popped back from the dead......sort of.
The theater run has ended and the movie has grossed $569 million worldwide. Currently the 7th highest grossing movie for the year. Financially, the movie is a bust. Disney was hoping for a $1.1-$1.2 billion performance. Disney will spin the movie as a win, they are the best at PR. Disney spent so much on pushing this movie.
Streaming on Disney+ has started, I am still not watching. I have not seen any of the live action remakes and don't ever plan on starting. I like the animated movies, preferably in their original adaptation.

Despite the stubbornness above, well worth watching. All of them. It’s still Disney.

I just finished watching it. I didn't realize that Jonah Hauer-King was Eric. I also didn't know he had that kind of singing voice. Been a fan of Halle Bailey's acting for a while but also nice to hear her voice (I knew she was a singer but hadn't heard her sing). Both are excellent actors and singers. Loved all the new music too.
While I like Melissa McCarthy and her acting okay, her singing chops weren't up to snuff for me. Probably the worst casting choice to me.
I think it's one of the better live actions they did. Not that I love it as much as some other movies, but it was well done.

We finally watched it this weekend! The Little Mermaid was my favorite movie growing up so I was excited to see what Disney did with the live-action. Everyone in my family enjoyed it! We all agreed that it was our favorite live-action that Disney has done. While I do prefer new stories and content, I'm not a hater of the live-action remakes.
