We will be at Boulder Ridge in July. Just wondering if anyone knows how far along they are with refurb?
Is the issue with 5th floor sofa bed/Murphy bed in all size villas?

The refurb is complete.
The 5th floor isn’t suitable for the Murphy wall beds so those rooms won’t be getting them. As far as I know it applies to all sizes of rooms, I think there just isn’t the roof clearance needed.

Someone on a WL group stated the 4th floor on the shorter and smaller wing that's closest to the main lobby and 5th on the longer wing. There's mo 5th floor on that wing. N9t sure it's 100% but someone reported their 4th floor didn't have then either. |

We’re here now, and I can say after “living” with this for several days. I DO NOT LIKE THE REFURB!!!  I still love the lodge, but this makeover is just a “no” for me. Let’s forget the theming that some of us truly love. Okay, fine. Make it all bland and vanilla. I have some genuine complaints. And I’m afraid for the other DVC resorts… * Showers are MUCH smaller. MUCH smaller. * jacuzzi tubs are gone. And I don’t want to hear about how much space they took up or how much water they used. They replaced the jacuzzi tub with one that is deep enough for a hippo to submerge in. So it wasn’t about wasting less water. * Hard, hard, hard. Every formerly comfortable surface is HARD!!! The sofa cushions are thin and uncomfortable. They are apparently held together with Velcro that crackles loudly with every movement. Their “padded” kitchen chairs? Nope. * THE BED. EPIC FAIL!!! For people who enjoy sleeping on concrete slabs, you will adore the new beds. I personally feel that Fred and Wilma Flintstone would find them uncomfortable. After the first night, we requested an egg crate to try and make it more comfortable. I should have asked for a sledgehammer. Since Southwest allows 2 free checked bags, our next trip will include a REAL mattress topper. On a happy note, since I can’t do all negatives… we watched the electric water parade from our balcony last night! Loved that! The Christmas party is still worth it. I even have pics of hubby with Tweedle Dee and Dum. So much fun! We met some really nice people while waiting in various lines. Tim loved, loved, loved Tron! We are doing Animal Kingdom today, but I bought a LL for Tron this evening so that he could ride one more time before we leave. Shh… he doesn’t know yet! VQs will never be my favorite, but they are doable. We managed to get great return times for each VQ this trip. Guardians is cute, but I think it’s more of a “me” ride than an “us” ride. I still love FOP best. 🥰 |

Sorry to hear the Refurbs at Boulder Ridge are not very good. We do love the place and will be there in early January.

Ugh, I hate to read this. I was thinking we would stay here our next trip but looks like I may be trying to switch out at seven months. I suppose we could try Copper Creek, then we would still get the benefit of the atmosphere there that we love.

Ugh, I hate to read this. I was thinking we would stay here our next trip but looks like I may be trying to switch out at seven months. I suppose we could try Copper Creek, then we would still get the benefit of the atmosphere there that we love. Well I’m not going to do anything crazy, like sell my points. But we are going to take advantage of the extra free bag with Southwest and come prepared next time! We’ve discussed Owners Locker, so that may an option too. But SW is free… |

Free is good. Unfortunately all the beds seem to be getting harder as a whole. Fantastic for me who needs it (and cannot fix with a topper) but not so good for others.
I'd just use SW luggage. Be cheaper than OL just for that and honestly a new topper every time delivered might be cheaper too if that's the only reason.

I’m adding that to my packing list… You know I have a under-seat rolling bag just for my shoes most longer trips, right? Seriously I do. When the kid was younger we'd bring waterproof bags in case we did a last minute swim as well. |
