Marriott Bonnet Creek opened just after Covid delays . I had planned to check out their lobby during the holidays .
Free one night stay member reward… just checked in , room was ready , explored new for us resort and decided to relax in room ….Friend with cheap points works night shift bus driver … needs a few hours of sleep …
Anyway at 2:00 the TV power and AC went off and we waited for TV to kick back on . for 5 minutes and then
Instead the in room speaker announcement told us :
Power outage , Emergency lights working in hallway , loud blast over intercom … and still waiting for power 40 minutes +
How dare they I demand another free night
Haha
Well the internet still works , maybe I should close the curtains but love watching the traffic on I-4 …. Hopefully the room will not get too hot waiting for AC to kick back on .
When the Grand Californian was still in the cheap and barely opened training session ( $ 159 rate ) …in middle of night Emergency Loud blast in room and laser lights flashing all over inside room … had a huge migraine next day , with no explanation from Cast …
Always be aware of the emergency path exit from your room as you step out into the hallway because that night …
GC Resort has long hallways with Emergency steel fireproof doors that are in walls and automatically Close to block oxygen ,I guess, to prevent fire spreading
Anyway even tho I always pay attention to emergency exits , including counting the rows on airplane to front and back exit …
The hallway looked completely different and It was very confusing…try imagine a hallway filled with smoke in the middle of the night …
Another funny Power Outage Story …with young grandchildren ..
SouthlakeTexas Hilton Resort (awesome fireworks every year)
Power went out in the middle of the night and grandma had just purchased Toy Lanterns with new batteries …in suitcase.
what are the odds we would have that happen ? They are 16 &15 now and we still laugh about that one !
I also pack flashlight …it was a useful toy when they were little but now a safety precaution to remember.

Okay This is silly but wow I love the toilet design . It is a TOTO manufacturer proudly displayed … how often does one notice this in hotel room? Maybe I can shop and buy new toilet while I am stranded in hotel room … over one hour … no TV no AC Maybe a free drink from hotel on their rooftop bar tonight .
Also love alarm clock …definitely bored … looked on bottom

I trust BRP Music lover opinion … should I also buy new radio … I mean the internet is working still and I can shop …

Great huge windows… I love to watch traffic when I am not stuck in it …
Funny to be staying at a new Marriott Resort with view of that huge Marriott World Center Resort just across Interstate
Like a Huge Bill board.
Thanks guys for keeping me entertained while stuck
Power just came back on.
I survived the one hour of no AC no TV !

One more thing …I love the Marriott Bonnet Creek Resort and plan to return to check out the Holiday decorations .
More JW Marriott exploring…
approaching the escalator … so slow it almost looked like they weren’t working but actually increased to normal speed as we were close enough to take the first step on it step.
And more fancy TOTO design toilets in ladies room and TOTO brand urinals and a fancy ultraviolet light TOTO hand dryers !

The childrens area was incredible ! And they offer Kids Night Out to ditch those boring parents that want to play at the Rooftop Bar

Apologize for weirdo non Disney trip report… I had a Cold Brew Iced Coffee made in lobby and the elevator was still working So enjoyed in room hoping to relax until that caffeine kicked in.
Probably my first and last cold brew caffeinated beverage
Apparently it has a lot of caffeine
Haha Still wired !
Almost time for Sunset & fireworks view from rooftop bar and then crash hopefully
The beds are heavenly like the Westin Swan used to be.

So probably expensive Japanese design that I won’t be ordering . Every time I buy an actual "made in Japan" tool, I am impressed. Which is no small feat. My last one was these Japanese wire cutters...every time I use them I'm blown away and I'm like you can take your Kleins and Milwaukee-puts-their-name-on-everything-these-days and give them to goodwill. Anyways we have an upcoming bathroom remodel and a few months ago I did some looking at the TOTO web page, and while my eyes opened very large at some (most... a lot?) of the prices, there were certainly more acceptable offerings so don't count them out. They also have very fanciful sinks and tubs, if you want to pretend you are rich! |

I am awake and back home .

I wandered around early morn but did not dare order any coffee from that Coffee Quik Service in their lobby .
Still have caffeine in me from that Sweet Cream Cold Brew …
The seating area is full of Coffee Recipe Books Not for Sale but free to read.
They have one full of Coffee Cocktails with lots of pictures of each creative drink .
Might go to Barnes & Noble to order this one. I started reading a book but probably should not steal

I’m not religious but love to read about Jesus Christ and his mother Mary .
This resort is surrounded by tree forests and Hilton Bonnet Creek Signia ( love love love that resort ) …
Saw a great view of Epcot Spaceship Earth changing light design patterns from rooftop Bar !
And really loud millions of frogs croaking behind the pool area last night .
Apparently this is June Gay Pride Month and they have 3 large flags flying in front of resort Valet area.
USA Flag and Florida Flag and have replaced the Corporate design logo flag with the Gay Pride Rainbow logo Flag .
Hope I’m not in trouble for discussing religion and politics in same thread .
This is just a trip report and hopefully I can figure out how to insert photos without accidentally deleting something again .

The “ UnReserved “ Beer Garden Restaurant was fantastic.
I guess they have $120 Raw Seafood Bar to order and fantastic Sushi selection.
The Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail was served chilled perfectly and a great local Florida company made in Miami cocktail sauce..
I asked about a no alcohol drink with coconut .. The bartender created a fresh mint and coconut drink for me and it was Si Good and refreshing I was full of smiles enjoying when he came over to ask if I liked it !
My friend the bus driver explained Normally bartenders are too busy to personalize something not on their menu and the extra effort to ?muddle? The mint was very generous .
We were generous with tip so hope he gets his share.
And also ordered a pizza expecting small one but we had leftovers .
That pizza might be one of the best ever and my friend the busdriver used to manage Grimaldi’s Pizza in Arizona
We plan to take the Brightline someday to get a Grimaldi’s Pizza and then jump back on train .
But We might just have to place a to go order and park in the Marriott valet to run in and pick up.
That chewy crust and made in house sauce was a sensation to savor
Perfect chewy with a incredible cheese and sauce taste .
And ordered a warm small serving of mini cake w/caramel in center and fresh ice cream Also so good !
I forgot to mention the coffee bar will start serving fresh made Gelato soon. They have a modern machine that has a great design look to it ! Need to insert photos haha.
I don’t know if I can wait til the return visit for the holidays to order the Gelato .

Okay Disney needs to learn Free Reward ( Marriott Rewards and HiltonHonors vs Disney Visa ) equals a “ local “ spending lots of money in restaurants and quick service and even wandered into their Spa GiftShop and purchased a $44 Beach Towel with Florida State Map and pink flamingos, etc design !
