You need to remember , it’s just not the movie and the trailers.
Recently before Little Mermaid AMC Spokesperson Nicole Kidman is capturing a cult following and received a round of applause for that performance before movie started . Yesterday before Barbie a guy in audience stood up and recited every word of her narration along with Nicole and he got huge applause for his performance … And the big joke is Tom Cruise loves movies and has travelled world for public relations to get guests back in movie theatres , while his former wife Nicole is more popular and accomplishing greater results …
Anyway now the big Need to know before Oppenheimer ( besides BARBIe and Oppenheimer opening same weekend … walking out of one and into the other tomorrow AMC Disney Springs …
Audience with reserved IMAX Oppenheimer seat must be …in seat at showtime No previews No trailers No Nicole … and their will be a Clock Countdown on the big screen …….3-2-1! Clock ticking

Is anyone going to spend the bucks and see “ Oppenheimer “ on the big screen? Unless we are at Disney, we will just wait for it to come out on the streaming channels. Cant wait to hear feedback about the movie. Nope....there has been lots of hype for the movie. I just can't see this being a must see movie. We already know what he did and it's not really a gripping story or thrill adventure. The buzz is for industry rewards nods.....boring. Wanted to add that the movie will fare well, but I dont see it having legs. Definitely. We have tickets for Tuesday and are looking forward to this.Important person in history as well as a pivotal time/event. Sure, we all know what happened, but that does not change the interest in the movie. I imagine that this movie will do better in the Bay Area and parts of New Mexico than the US at large.
And, no, we're not doing Barbenheimer
Cheers.

I personally am very interesting in going to see "Oppenheimer" in the theater. Sure I know what happened, but I'm interesting in seeing another telling of it, much like people might see varying takes on a certain Shakespeare work. Maybe it's the engineer in me, but the whole "all the best minds working together designing this thing in a very short amount of time and nobody knows for sure what is going to happen" is very exciting.
Probably nobody's heard of it, but years ago I saw a 1989 film with Paul Newman called "Fat Man and Little Boy" and I found it thrilling beyond compare. Good chance most would find it quite a snooze-fest.
All that said, there's always a lot going on, and there's always a reasonable chance that we won't get around to going to the theater to see the movie. In which case I probably won't bother making a point to watch it at home, either. I'm very interested in see the "Mission Impossible" movie and we might not get around to that, either.
Sometimes I just can't be bothered to watch anything at all...my formative teenage years were spent in a love affair with the Indiana Jones movies (I bought the official fedora at the store in Hollywood Studios back in like 1990 as well as the "Last Crusade" soundtrack and if a laser could burn out a cd, it would have burned out) but for some reason I have a "meh" attitude to the latest movie, which I haven't seen yet but who knows. I even dressed like Indy for halloween and used to take my Indiana Jones fedora hiking (pro tip: the dark brown fedora is not the appropriate hat for desert hikes, despite what the movies would have you believe) and I would never been seen without my trusty Zippo in my pocket just in case I needed to light up a dark room. In fact, hilarious anecdote - the one year I got tired of carrying the Zippo and it's constant need to be filled, I left it home on a trip to Mexico so I wouldn't have to worry about it through security and stuff. Well, here we come to Chichen Itza where I broke off from the crown and found a dark passageway under the pyramid, I was pissed that I carried that lighter for all those years, and here was when I needed it most and I didn't have it. I went down the passageway by dragging my hands along the walls, until in pitch darkness, the walls disappeared on both my left and right. Not wanting to be lost under the pyramid for all time, I turned around and left. Sad times. If I would have had my Zippo lighter, ~I~ would have been Indiana Jones, exploring the underground Mayan ruins!

With a story like that you owe it to yourself to see it in the big screen It’s a great story and moments when you “get” the IJ stage show at HS . Go or be forever sad about Zippo and Indiana Jones even more …
And Mission Impossible needs to be seen on big screen Just to figure out why Paris the Villain does not look like Mantis from Guardians of Galaxy …
And Haunted Mansion new movie WOW … do not go see Elemental except for Carls Date Pixar Short in beginning

Mine is only 50" but it does the job, and yeah, too many knuckleheads in the theaters between the cell phoners, the loud talkers and the loud popcorn eaters.

I guess I am the only person with a family that behaves that way at home around our big screen. And I never bother with popcorn or Red Vines sitting at home….

We haven’t been to the movie theater, to see a movie, since 2019 Avengers: Endgame. The cost of movies, and what we pay for all of our streaming services, we’d rather stay home and watch. We almost went to see GotG but life got in the way, now it will be on D+ in a week, so we will wait for it to stream. IJ was another on our list to see in the theater, but haven’t made it yet. It too may be streaming before we get the chance to go.
We did “go” to the movie theater in June because my DH “needed” the Transformer’s popcorn bucket LOL. We went in, bought the bucket, went home, enjoyed the popcorn, and will be watching Transformers tonight at home. Other than the first Transformers movie, the rest have not been worth paying to see in a theater. So he was fine with waiting for it to stream.
If we don’t get to see IJ before it streams, I have no idea when we will actually see a movie in the theater again. And I will say I am not missing the experience (just missing the really unhealthy, butter and salt filled popcorn haha).

Barbie did really well this weekend. In the three days, Barbie ($337m) has made almost the same as Elemental ($356m) which has been out since June 14th (30 days). I get tired of reading about how great Elemental is doing....It is not. Its another example of Disney not understanding the market and its client base. One could only wonder how much of a train wreck the Movie would of been if it didn't have the mighty Disney marketing push.
Indiana Jones is fading so fast.....Pulling up in 5th place for the Box Office weekend. This will add to Disney's huge loss of money in their Movie segment.
Next up for Disney July 28 - Haunted Mansion (budget $158m) Reboot, lots of big name actors. Previews seem funny....need more to see if its a hit or miss. Early Call....A miss! Sept 29 - Creator (budget $86m) Original movie, comes across as a merge of Terminator meets Rogue One (AI vs Humanity with a Love Story). I think it will be a mild hit with the low budget. Nov 10 - Marvels (budget $130m) Series Film, previews don't look great. I think it will be a miss, the budget on the lower side for a Marvel might help it make money. Nov 22 - Wish (budget $200m) Original Movie, Previews look like a throw back Disney animation. Big budget, but will be a hit, unless the previews are as good as it gets.

I like the concept and the imagery looks good in the previews, looks like being in the Haunted Mansion and kind-of creepy. But then I cringe when I see some of the big names, I feel like they would pull me out of the story, so I am scared of it being a lame let-down. I'm sure lots will love it, but I can see it being kind-of bad. A bunch of years ago I was reading stuff about Guillermo Del Toro looking to make a version of a "Haunted Mansion" movie, and I was pretty excited for a dark version of it. But that did not happen and now we get silly comedy bits.

DW, DD, and I saw Oppenheimer in a regular theater yesterday. For myself, I thought it was okay. I figured more Manhattan Project and less jumping back and forth in time but my fault for not having a better handle on the movie before I went. I am tired of all these very long movies (180 minutes for Oppenheimer, Indiana Jones 5 - 154 minutes). My guess is that Oppenheimer will get a number of awards for the acting, which was very good from a very large cast.
The question the three of us had, "why was it so important to see in Imax." Other than the Trinity test explosion which took roughly 2 minutes of the movie, most of it was talking between characters. None of us saw any reason why it had to be seem in IMAX or a big screen. At least it was "new" and not a reboot, remake (e.g., animated movie remade as live action), a sequel, etc. I hope I am wrong for Disney's sake but Haunted Mansion looked stupid. I am sure that Disney is hoping to recapture the glory that was the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie. Of course, then Disney created all these sequels which got worse and worse.

Plus, we go mid day on Tuesday, so there are few people in the theatre, and no one we can even see, much less see using their phones. It's like a private movie based on the row we generally choose.
Cheers.
