I was excited to get a last minute reservation yesterday at Beaches and Cream but it was terrible.!!!
Why does everybody love this place?
And how can you mess up a hamburger and a hot dog ?
I did love the Vanilla Flavored Malt and it was served in the classic metal container to keep it chilled while I tried to force myself to eat …Service was excellent and I gave a very generous tip but won’t be going back as in Never .
I actually had a birthday reservation for August with family but going to Cancel and find someplace better.
Anyway do you like this place?

Meh.....the grands like it.
It's Edys ice cream....
We prefer Ghirardelli or just a Mickey ice cream.
We were just there Sunday with the grands. I felt the place looked dingy and seemed dirty.

We were not impressed the last time we were there. The selections seem more limited, but that seems to be the spice of life at Disney with some menus now. We try to go back to places that disappoint us just to see, but only when the menus change for the better. I’m hoping Sci Fi improves because we really like going there. B&C and Sci Fi were two of our faves awhile back.

We were at Beach’s and Cream on the 30th as it is one of our staple restaurants every summer trip. Our server was awesome but the food was only okay. DH agreed it is time to take a break. Hopefully they will circle back to their old ways.

Agreed food there is meh at best Ice cream is good though:) but agree Ghiradellis is much better.

Meh.....the grands like it. It's Edys ice cream.... We prefer Ghirardelli or just a Mickey ice cream. Yup. Edy's is a standard, mediocre ice cream. And now that the place on the Boardwalk is also Edy's, choices are slim.
But the grands are clearly a priority, as should be.

And yet I find myself wanting to return just for that Malt service ! It was amazing .
Hard to find a good malt anywhere .
And the Juke Box still lets me pick a tune to play while I enjoy!
I was disappointed last trip to Ghirardelli's in Disney Springs…They stopped serving the marshmallow .
Where will I go to get a hot fudge marshmallow malt now?
It is a long drive to Culver’s but those cheeseburgers ! So good . And they still stock marshmallow…
Publix still sells Fluff but it is way up high on the top shelf hiding from me.

That's disappointing. I'm not a big sweets or ice cream person, but I used to love their burger. Has anyone been to The Fountain over in the Dolphin recently?
It's been a few years for us, but we enjoyed it when we did. Atmosphere was nothing to speak of but similar menu to Beaches & Cream. As far as burgers go, I love the one at Ale & Compass and there's usually availability.

Where will I go to get a hot fudge marshmallow malt now? It is a long drive to Culver’s but those cheeseburgers ! So good . And they still stock marshmallow… That's funny because for a while, my favorite thing was a malt from Culver's starting with the chocolate ice cream, then add hot fudge and marshmallow goop. I had to stop. One just down the street from us...crazy busy all the time. One on the other end of town...talk about crazy crazy! All the time. |

We really liked Ample Hills. I won't pay WDW prices for Edy's so we haven't been to the Ample Hills replacement. B&C we did once many years ago when my kids were young, for the kitchen sink. No need to return.
Salt and Straw in Disney Springs is good. I'd like to see them at the Boardwalk in the Ample Hills space.

Cheers. It was more about the toppings and sundaes vs the ice cream itself. For me, I'd rather get a pint of ice cream from the store and melt some PB on it. That was the only thing WDW Edy's ice cream parlors have that others don't. The place is less cramped in the newer location. I ate there last year with my kid after taking many years off due to a horrific allergy experience there (yes people, green onions are onions so if I say all onions please listen). I don't rush back there, but I know why people do. They do it with many restaurants that are sub par IMO. The fountain at the Dolphin is better with food IMO. |
