For me, the Utilidoors are really the highlight of the KttK tour, and what makes it worth it. I wish I could roam and browse around down there for days!

Good point about the utilidors. Maybe we'll look into it for spring break. Who knows.

Utiliodors are very cool. Seeing headless characters smoking was amusing as well.
Cheers.

A tour with just public areas and park history would be great, but I don’t really want to go behind the magic. Especially not at the Magic Kingdom. I don’t sit and wonder what the backstage areas are like. I just want to believe in magic and pixie dust when I visit my happy place. I’m afraid those types of tours would spoil the experience for me. I’m a weirdo

I agree … I have a hard enough time seeing them at the grocery store with their castmember outfits on .. but I understand . I find myself wanting to remind them they can wear their uniforms BUT they arenot supposed to wear their castmember pin off property in public!

She declined for the same reasons you mention. It makes very much sense to me.
Cheers.

Yep I totally get and respect the "don't ruin the magic" stance, but I really love to see the people, logistics, and technology that keep such a massive organization running smoothly.
Another thing I wish I could see more of was the overnight maintenance. Swing shift at WDW must be a huge undertaking!

I'm kind of the engineering mind - so I like to see how it works. It makes it oddly more magical to me, but I totally see the other way too. Kid and I are talking about 16 age limit tours and I think KttK will win. He's already seen some backstage doing main street parade. My first backstage was marching as well. I thought it was so cool to see my beloved EWP up close.
My dad did what I think was the backstage magic (MK & Epcot) and saw the American Adventure workings. As an engineer he really like it a lot. Said he'd retire working there - and yet he hasn't moved LOL

We are going to try and book an "entry level" tour for our Christmas trip. We are also going to try and book a pontoon boat for firework viewing. Its been a few years for a pontoon, the AK tour will be a new one for us and the grands.

Continued milking of the cash cow division. These udders are getting a worn out. When is a price increase milking the cow and when is it justified? Idk but as I like to say the three things in life you can count on is death, taxes and Disney raising their prices every year.... I agree … I have a hard enough time seeing them at the grocery store with their castmember outfits on .. but I understand . I find myself wanting to remind them they can wear their uniforms BUT they arenot supposed to wear their castmember pin off property in public! Seeing the cms out running errands in the costumes is always fun. I'm not sure what the actual rule is but yes badges off all the time, I believe technically you are not suppose to be in costumes outside the park but it is acceptable if it is a quick errand like the store or Starbucks. I don't think they want to be caught out to dinner and certainly not drinking in their costumes.

Idk but as I like to say the three things in life you can count on is death, taxes and Disney raising their prices every year.... Well....Disney price increases is outpacing cost of living. The Parks division is not losing money and one of the few divisions that post hefty profits year after year.
This was a good article about a month ago showing Disney's meteoric price increase for things like Park Tickets, over the last 30 years.
But hey, we pay it.....so there you go.

Continued milking of the cash cow division. These udders are getting a worn out. When is a price increase milking the cow and when is it justified? It's justified when people will pay it. As a publicly-traded corporation with a fiduciary responsible to shareholders, maximizing income is one of their mandates. If there is more demand than supply, prices should increase, Econ 101.
Cheers.

We are an engineer/scientist and a scientist, so that's why we too, and enjoyed, the tour. Our niece is a second-year EE student, so also an engineer, and doesn't want to see it.
I guess even some engineers want to hold onto the Magic
Cheers.

She is still a student....Wait a few years of working in the world. When your job is basically learning how to make, fix, break or re-imagine things.
