Do use the Chase Ultimate Rewards? I haven’t used them for hotel rooms because so far they are not any cheaper than booking direct. I don’t have enough points accumulated to use the points instead of cash. They act like a travel agent, so what ever I need to do as far as airlines, hotels I need to go through them to book and modify. I don't use them to book thru Chase Travel. Like you've found having to go thru them is something that doesn't add value and is more of a hassle. I do however use my Ink a lot due the 3x travel and business... and business includes our regular bills like internet and cell phones. Because it pays such a great return on things we spend anyways, it's a fantastic card everyone should have. I want to get my son one but he's new so I think we'll have to start with an easier card to qualify for. I transfer the points off. Mostly to Southwest. Or when they do +50%, to Marriott. No issues transferring off to a partner and the transfers happen in minutes.

The only rewards program I continue to be loyal to would be Starbucks because they actually remember me on my birthday with a free whatever my heart desires day. Starbucks gives me a drink on my birthday only. Peet's Coffee gives me 2 weeks
Easy to tell which I prefer...
Cheers.

Local BBQ place near me gives me $10 off for my birthday. $10 seems pretty good to me!

For us and BWI close, SWA is our go to. SW companion pass is amazing (we didn’t use it nearly as much this year). I was impressed that things were going to get easier next year. I was pleasantly surprised to get moved to Preferred after the Dec meltdown. Not going to make that on my own this year. The program is so simple to use and we of course add lots with our credit cards. Love ‘em’
I spent many years chasing and keeping Diamond Hilton and regret not doing the same with Marriott. I will lose my Hilton but love that you can earn lifetime with Marriott.
