One of my favorite WDW memories is at TofWL. DH and I did a Fort Wilderness tent camping trip for an anniversary. I surprised him with a custom cake the night we went up to the lounge. CMs made a production out of it, with candles, song and congratulations. DH was completely surprised and very happy.
I liked TofWL with DD. We took her several times under the theory it was best to teach her young that the only proper kind of bar is family friendly and has a fireworks show every night. But that was great when it was easy walk up for drinks and apps. Not something I'd pay $55 per person to do. Which is funny, because I don't think our bill was ever less than $55 there - we always had a couple of drinks, some bread/cheese and always the 7 layer cake. So likely the cost would not be that different. But I'm really resistant to paying it to get in as opposed to going and ordering what we wanted.

Agree its not a benefit anymore. When my mother was alive, we did TOTWL a couple times. Since it was too much for her to be in the park late, I would go up with her to TOTWL, have some food while waiting for DH and the kids to meet us for fireworks there. I am very sad to see it be a paid event every night.
