We cancelled our February OKW ressie and are now likely going to Aulani next month. I just booked the Luau at Aulani but I'm reading recommendations on other sites for Paradise Cove or Chiefs. We will have a rental car so transport isn't an issue. We are first timers to Hawaii and Aulani with DS1 being 15 years old and DS2 being 11 years old.
Could any of you offer which is the best show?

I have only done the Aulani Luau but we LOVED it! If you have never been to Aulani before, I would give that one a shot.

If you don’t mind driving over the short and shorter walk from Paradise Cove and Aulani, I would go with Chiefs. I saw his old show Fia Fia years ago and it was the best Luau I have seen. It will also likely be a better value too. There appear to be a variety of discounts available.

Thanks for the comments. We were really torn between the luaus at Aulani, Paradise Cove, Chief's and Toa. We finally decided to go with Toa Luau on the North Shore. It seems like you really get a lot for your money, despite the hour drive from Aulani.

It has been a few years for us (2017) but we really enjoyed the one right by Aulani.

We have been to Paradise Cove and PCC. In May we will try Aulani's.

We booked the Toa Luau on the North Shore. It’s a bit of a drive but it appears to offer a lot for a great price. Will post back here after we get back from the trip.

Speaking of the luau, just yesterday my wife said to me, "We never got to see the luau at Disney (she meant Florida), I wish we would have gone." Obviously we had plenty of years to try it but never did, but it's funny how now that's gone we wish we had gone. Oh well. I remember many many many years ago, before owning DVC, we were going during the "free dining" while staying at a couple different hotels and she would look at the menu for the luau and come to the conclusion that it looks fun but the menu wasn't working out heh. Liberty Tree and Trail's End were always our go-to.

What made the day memorable was riding in the front of the monorail from MK to the Poly.

To begin, my wife and I had done an Luau on Maui many years ago, we did one and were happy we did it but probably not again kind of thing for us personally.
Now, we were there three weeks ago and our room overlooked the Luau. It was a more entertaining Luau with quality sound and lighting than the previous one we attended, very Disney like. We saw it maybe 3 times when relaxing in the evening on the balcony. Definite bonus for us. If you have never been to one, I would go to it.

When we visited Aulani a few years back, we attended the Luau at the Cultural Center…very nice. For some reason, I don’t recall there being one available at Disney.

Update:
Toa Luau was beyond amazing. 100% recommend.
The atmosphere was authentic, family-oriented, and excellent. Swimming in the waterfall was cold but lots of fun. The luau's host and performers were great and made us feel like family. I really enjoyed the food and the fire show was pretty incredible too. It was definitely worth the ~1 hour drive from Aulani and we would go back in heartbeat. We bought the base/silver tickets and were a mere 3 tables back from the stage.
We got to watch Aulani's luau from our balcony and it looked like a snoozefest in comparison.
