I, too, was sad to see ESPN go. - says the guy who went there once. I got nachos, and I was slightly disappointed that they used cheese sauce rather than real shredded cheese. But seems most places at WDW use cheese sauce on nachos. For a while I was on a quest to find "real" nachos at Disney. But it was nice to have a quote-unquote "normal" restaurant, like an Applebee's or something. I have never been to ESPN and Big River only once. We are a big reason why these are gone. If guests don’t pack the place, it can only survive for so long. Since I’ve never been to ESPN, was it packed and crowded most of the day? I know Big River wasn’t. ESPN was often very packed. It's sad when Big River was often so easy to get into and we still chose elsewhere. ESPN wasn't worth a wait most of the time for us but did eat there when it was slower

Join my boycott I told DW a few days ago that I won't spend a dime there. Half protest, half it's not my kind of place. Yeah I'm with you $8 for a chai latte is not my place. And for the love of all holy stop calling it chai tea. Chai literally means tea so you're saying tea tea latte. Quit it! (Looking at you too starbucks) Add bao bun to that list. A bao is a steamed bun, so bao bun is bun bun.

Ooh, speaking of redundant restaurant terms, please stop using 'with au jus,' that's saying with with the jus. It's just au jus!! I didn't know about chai tea and bao buns being incorrect. Will stop saying that now!
but back to old Boardwalk, we've only been staying there since 2012, and I don't have many recollection of the old buskers/entertainment. I never took much time to stop and watch any of it. DH did though, and liked that vibe. We never ate at ESPN. DH said he went in once, and it was packed w. a crazy wait and left. Did people linger too long, like if you're going in to watch a game, do you stay for the whole game? which would mean tables not turning over enough? We never went to Big River Grill. Never thought about it. Probably couldn't have told you it was there. Went to Ample hills once, just before it closed. wasn't impressed, and don't miss it. We always found it just as easy to walk into Epcot to grab food. I guess if we didn't have tickets, or it was bad weather, it would be nice to have these options on the Boardwalk, but we never made use of them. Am hoping some good options move in, something not too fru fru, just regular food, pub food, etc. My main reason for staying at BWV is the location and options to easily get to the parks. I've not done a resort focused stay there, so that would probably change my outlook, and make me appreciate the resort options more.

Johnson’s Popcorn or Mango & Mango Pizza (OC, NJ Boardwalk) Just for clarification: it's Manco & Manco in OC, NJ. Mango Pizza is in Mystic, CT. Nice idea with the Beach Club theme being Cape May, NJ

Nice comparison. and I completely agree about Guardians in Epcot. We already miss ESPN and have missed it on our last three trips. Not looking forward to cake bake.

One of my fav days was staying at BC, walking to HS, walking towards Epcot early afternoon, stopping at ESPN then heading over to Epcot for the evening. Use to love sitting at River Grille in the evening enjoying the view of the Y&B. All that is gone now.

And they have umbrellas, so you're shaded on sunny days.

Add bao bun to that list. A bao is a steamed bun, so bao bun is bun bun. Yes! Stop assuming we dumb people! From what I’ve seen, most Americans are not adventurous eaters. Many do not know what chai or a bao is. Seeing something unfamiliar is a huge turnoff so they will just order something else. Like it or now, familiar words need to be used to increase the odds that people will order these items.

L’Chaim to all! And no, most baristas do not approve of my stating such…

I'll disagree that it's necessary or that mist are not aware enough to need that help. It's still obnoxious that we feel the need to do it. I'll explain. If something is listed under tea, it's pretty obvious what it is to me. It's easy to do descriptions on menu to let people know what a bao is. To me it's insulting to dumb it down so much and truly makes us look uncultured as a whole here. Adding a word isn't going to make people try it on their own. I travel with a very unadventurous eater to the point where Via Napoli was considered adventurous. Adding bun next to bao didn't get him to try it. It took us convincing him to do it. With how easy we can google stuff, redundancy is unnecessary. JMO with traveling with others. Maybe 20+ years ago it was "needed" but not now.

A xiao long bao is not a bun at all, but more like a dumpling. We're talking redundancies here. Bao means bun (or dough). How it's prepared exactly can vary. No need to call it a bao bun. My Chinese speaking friends speak of this often. a similar is saying naan bread. Bread is redundant. It can be made as many different flavors and versions. Chai means tea. Chai tea is redundant. Chai can be a few ways if being prepared as well. Just saying we need to stop redundancies. Yeah I'm with you $8 for a chai latte is not my place. This Reddit still exists and cracks me up... The first post goes into how it sounds like you're saying dumb dumb
As a native Chinese speaker, it is really confusing to me why people would add 'bun' after bao. Because bao literally means bun. 'Bao' = 包 = bun(or more specifically bao = 麵包 = bun or bread). it's like saying chai tea which liteeally means tea tea. So when you're saying "bao bun" you're literally just sating "bun bun" and no offense it sounds like 笨笨 when i think about it which literally translates to 'dumb dumb'.
