I know it's controversial....but my question is...do I have to walk a reservation?
We want to spend Christmas 2025 or 2026 in a 3-bed GV at BLT....it will be a once-in-a-lifetime trip, so I am planning ahead now!

We've never had to walk a reservation but I'm willing to bet that you will have to with this set of circumstances. Wishing you the best of luck getting your reservation. Lets see what the pros here have to say...

If you have the points and the time, walk the reservation. What does it hurt and what do you have to lose? The answer is nothing, but possibly not getting your reservation if you did not walk it.
How do you think everyone is booking those AKV Club Level rooms?

Thank all! I kinda assumed I would need to walk it. I have never done it before...would I call 11 months out to book December 16-23, then call member services every day to drop the 16 and add the 24, and so on until I get the week I need?

You can do it online, no need to call. You also don’t need to modify it every day, once you have it booked for a week, no-one can take it from you until the last day. I would wait until the 20th and change the dates then, say 20th to 27th, and repeat if necessary. Don’t leave it until the last minute in case there are issues with the site. As for when to start, I’d say when you see it available. |

That would work, but it's way easier to just book it yourself online and modify it each day online. Also, member services opens an hour after you could make the reservation online so it’s possible that others will have already booked the GVs before you can even call. And you’d probably be wise to start walking quite a bit earlier. Booking in December is really tough!

Definitely do this online, and do not call! You will likely be missing out in that one hour between online opening and the call center being open waiting to make the reservation. You don't even have to move it every day if you have a decent number of days booked, but definitely modify online too just because it's so much easier to do it online than it is to call every day. |

So this morning I booked out 2-bedroom at Riviera for Dec 26-Jan 1, our annual Christmas-NYE trip. My sister's family is joining us on Dec 27-Jan 2 for the week, but staying in a studio. For kicks, I checked for a standard studio from the 26th thru the 2nd.....nope, the 26th was gone already. So now tomorrow, I am gonna have to be gunning it to get my standard view studio for my sister's family. If not, i will be forced to book a preferred view room.....that is 204 pts vs 167 pts for the standard view room.

Thank you all!!! I had no idea I could move it online! I much prefer this option to calling. I just checked for Christmas 2024 and only 2 nights of the week were unavailable, so I am feeling much more optimistic we can do this!!!! YAY!!!!!!

So this morning I booked out 2-bedroom at Riviera for Dec 26-Jan 1, our annual Christmas-NYE trip. My sister's family is joining us on Dec 27-Jan 2 for the week, but staying in a studio. For kicks, I checked for a standard studio from the 26th thru the 2nd.....nope, the 26th was gone already. So now tomorrow, I am gonna have to be gunning it to get my standard view studio for my sister's family. If not, i will be forced to book a preferred view room.....that is 204 pts vs 167 pts for the standard view room. Same boat for BWV. Booking for DD, boardwalk and standard gone on the 26th (later days available), and not that we have points there but same for Beach Club studio. Will be trying again tomorrow, pool view still available. |

From my experience booking at Riviera for this week the last few years, walking is probably not necessary. although, I have less points than you do so I’ll probably keep walking just to avoid the problem. |
