This morning I realized that I hadn't started/ran one of my vehicles for like two months or something, so I figured I better do it. I installed a cutoff switch on the battery, I started doing this a couple years ago with my cars that I don't hardly drive and it really helps on dead batteries. I connected that switch and it fired right up.
It's a 2002 Chevy shuttle bus, mini-bus, whatever you want to call it - the kind that picks you up at airports or hotels or whatever. This one has a wheelchair lift in it which is why I bought it. It has like 320k miles on it so I have to assume that at least the transmission, if not engine, has been replaced or rebuilt by this time...maybe not, who knows. But I bought it from a senior housing place in a surrounding smaller town, so it spent probably 20 years driving the 20 or 30 miles from the old people place to the hospital and some shopping.
So I'm sitting there, and on the dash with all the buttons for the wheelchair lift and stuff, it has an hour-meter...15,000 hours this thing's spent running! That's a long time! Nearly two years if you left it running 24/7. I know when we would take my wife's mother to an appt, it would get probably a good four hours of run time at least, for a couple of short drives.
I'll be sad to get rid of it, the big v8 runs so smooth! But it's a huge vehicle. I've talked about cutting the "bus" part of it off, but then it would be a weird flat-bed with only one seat for the driver. And it takes up too much room.

Ha ha the Chatty Thread is turning into my own personal "Weird Stories" thread.
Was watching something about the Jim Croce song "Operator" which if you are familiar, high five. He wants the operator to help him make a call; he mentions that "The number on the matchbook is old and faded."
Suddenly I remember that when in college, late '90s, even though I was never anywhere near "cool" I had a leather jacket that was hand-me-down from my brother. This jacket would have been at home in the Duran Duran "Hungry Like the Wolf" music video. It had an inside pocket, in which I carried a matchbook (didn't smoke) but I wanted the matchbook "just in case" I needed to give my number to a girl.
Hee hee!
Some could argue that "let me write my number on this matchbook" is 300x more romantic than "here, let me text you, put your number in my phone" but what do I know.

I was reading a short article just now, about capitalization in titles. She wrote, "The major style guides all stipulate you should never capitalize the following types of words:" and followed with a short list with some examples, most importantly (for this discussion I am having) determiners such as "a" or "an", and prepositions (short ones, anyways) including "in" and "out". I had to go back up to the top and look at the title of the article, which was "Is 'Your' Capitalized In A Title?" I couldn't help but notice that the author seems to have disregarded her own advice, twice. I did think it looked funny when I first read it.
Anyways...the excitement around here! I almost can't take it!
Ooh I just noticed the sky is dark green outside! Been raining all day. Maybe it will get exciting.

I just googled 2002 GMC ADA Transport Shuttle… Are you sure you want to get rid of that since It is still running? If you take care of your vehicle it should last a lifetime .These we’re built like a Truck
Would be nice to convert into a camper with emergency exit front & back door.
I saved a magazine from AAA Living because the cover ( Sept/Oct 2021 ) featured a young person that had converted the family ‘79 VW Bus into a fully electric vehicle … “Vintage Transport Gets Transformed “
Im curious what the value to sell your 2005 since Used Car Sales still offer videos online YouTube . I occasionally attend Car Shows on Weekends at the MargaritaVille Resort near WDW . I think it is Sunset Walk .

Hey I love personal weird stories! I've just been super busy doing stuff. Like a last minute trip to NYC for work and to see my kid sing. Then we had a huge meeting last night and I was elected to an exec role for the marching band - woot! Doing a whole lot of IRS maintaining 501(c)3 stuff. 1.5 hours down and just over an hour left.
Life is fun here LOL

But something made me go look up my first school bus... Behold!

and I was elected to an exec role for the marching band This could be a good thing, or a bad thing. Or both. We have some serious power control issues. We'll see if this lasts or not Hopefully we can straighten crap out though seriously. We lost ours 501c3 status a few years ago. So we're rebuilding.

Year for your yellow school bus bus? Do they make them that long nowadays ? Actually they do make them that long, I think that is as long as they can be and still be DOT approved. Most busses are 77 or 78 passenger, we had one or two busses that were 83 passenger because they had one extra row, they did this by putting the engine under the floor up in front, under the driver. Nobody really liked those busses. Mine in the picture was a 1998. Fun fact about the color: "School Bus Yellow" was adopted in 1939 and remains the standard, selected at a conference with other school bus safety standards. There have been slight modifications over the years to reflect things like not using lead, etc, but the color stays the same.

To add I read that it was a federal mandate for all buses to be that color as well.

You’re lucky you got your bus to start ! I did not move my Acadia during Covid and did not realize the tires rotting away because the sprinkler system nightly and puddles ..
If anybody is visiting and needs excellent service Starling Chevrolet on Orange Blossom just off 417 is the dealership that services the Minnie Vans. My Acadia was out of warranty and I used them until I decided to sell it and just keep my Jeep .

Listening to the radio today, the guy started talking about this book he's reading written by Geddy Lee of Rush, he mentions he went to the same high school as Rick Moranis, next thing you know they are doing "Take Off" from the Bob and Doug McKenzie album...
Beauty!
Who's with me, high five
