I don't like pushing a doorbell and it doesn't make real doorbell sounds. And electronically recreated doorbell sounds won't do, either. While we are on the topic of me being old, when was the last time anybody used a landline? Not too long ago I was using one of the wall-mounted rotary phones (!) out in my garage and I was talking to my mom, who was also using a wall-mounted (but no longer rotary) phone, and the sound quality was fantastic. And I love the ringers. And if you happen to have one of the phones (rotary or pushbutton) that was the Bell standard desk phone for decades, you just can't beat the sound and feel of slamming the earpiece down on the cradle, and hearing the bells inside the unit make a meek "ring" that fades away as you stew about what the other person said. One of my grandmothers had that phone (I have it now) and she was known for slamming everything down, not necessarily out of anger...just everything was put down non-gently. I have distinct memories of the sound that phone made when it was unceremoniously picked up and put down in a new spot on the kitchen table. We still have our home phone number from when we moved into our first apartment. It's not affiliated with a cell phone either, though I've considered doing that. I grew up with a rotary phone and multiple places in my house. I got really good at dialing and pushing the numbers so that it could be fast enough but not so fast that you missed dialed. Yes, the sound of the phone Bells ringing when you slam the phone down is the sound I kind of miss. I do set my doorbell to make different sounds depending on the time of the year. Our doorbell actually was electronic in this house even before I swapped to what I use now. It is a little box from I have no idea what many decades ago. Just no chimes like my dad's had

So DH wanted a Ring (I really think it is a FOMO/nosy 'thing'). I resisted because I thought it was probably more aggravating than it was worth. Consequently, our eldest bought gifted us a Ring. Guess What? It is aggravating. Darn thing goes off for every car, sidewalk inhabitant and flag wave. So we tried to restrict it's reach - unsuccessfully. My son finally figured out how to turn off the 'neighbors' notices and the flag décor is on hiatus. So annoying. I might need to buy a Mickey Gnome. We have Ring for home security and 5 cameras (including the doorbell), and it is wonderful. It took some tweaking, but works well now. Sure, the one over the garage will detect cars at night, but we don't alert for all motions, only people. And it knows that they're not people.
And we have a wildlife camera where we see fox, rabbit, opossum, skunk, rabbit and the occasional deer.
Cheers.

We kept it for a long time because it was the number my mom knew to call. After she passed I tried to get rid of it. Turns out it's "bundled" with our wifi and canceling it would cause the wifi fees to increase. So we still have it though it's connected to some software that just takes messages.

Ring Door camera (plus others) yes, land line no.
You can adjust the active area of the ring to be about whatever you want it to be, just the porch if that's all you want while it still records the complete view. We had issues getting the standard door bell to go off (probably needed a different transformer) so we bought a cheap google speaker to be the ring for the door bell. Area alerts only come to our phones (and watches) but if someone pushes the button it is announced on the google speaker. Ring has come in handy a couple of time when deliveries have said they have been delivered but we offer to send them the camera footage at the time they say they were here to prove they weren't.

We also have Ring Door Camera and 4 other cameras around the house.
We still have our landline phone. Three cordless and one attached to the wall/is that the term. If power goes out - we can still use the phone in our bedroom/the only one not cordless. We have had a few instances where cell phones were down and it's great to have the landline. I had also looked into getting rid of it years ago, but the savings was not that much.

Same her. No landline for maybe a decade. And been pulling out all the phone jacks and lines when they pop out from the crawlspace.
We had the opposite just yesterday. We were up the hill at Ridge winery when we saw a delivery come to our door. It was not ours. Thought it was Walmart (turned out to be Safeway). Texted our neighbor (her address and ours get confused repeatedly) and it was hers, so she came by and grabbed it before we even got home.
I've adjusted both active area and sensitivity for the various cameras to tune each to its environment.
Cheers.

We still have our landline and, yes, it is bundled. I like to use the landline when I don't want to be bothered by the lag that the cell phones have where we keep talking over each other.
The Ring my son keeps tweaking the sensor area on the ring but so far it seems we can't do the flag. I'll tell him to look for the setting so it will only recognized people. I think that would be a 'game changer' for me. I have successfully suppressed all the neighborhood notices, which was driving me around the bend.

Well my nest cameras caught a grumpy old guy removing the sign for Mean Girls this weekend and throwing it on the ground at 7am this morning. Who does that kind of thing?

I have a cherry pop tart in my lunch today. That’s as close as I can get to pie, for the time being…..

But because of the show itself, of course I have to say a “Mean Guy”. Missed out on Pi(e) Dsy. I’ll make up for it soon enough I’m sure.

Had a girls week with my sister in Sarasota - we decided to be key lime pie critics for a few days - I think that counts for pie on pi day.
