Anyone book into the Ft Wilderness Cabin's? I'm going to try for our December vacation, as currently we're in the Beach Club and by then we'll be ticketless. What does anyone think of my WL chances into BLT or AK-J?

Inching ever closer... I was sick to my stomach though for hours yesterday, because of the realization that I was in my driveway or something three miles earlier, and it completely escaped my mind.

Well many many years ago I scored a relatively new (at the time) color laser printer from Samsung for $10 at Savers. It worked. Ten years and a couple of toner replacements later, the prints were....marginal at best, with smearing and ghosting. I decided to take it apart. Turns out there's a waste toner bin behind the laser drum that seemed to be packed full, and as near as I can figure the toner was getting put back onto the drum and causing the ghosting and other stuff. A new drum cartridge would fix this but at $60 - $150 for a new one of varying suspiciousness build, I decided to take THAT apart and clean it, toner party in my garage! Managed to get it back together after pausing a few youtube videos in other languages, and it makes prints like it's new again! For now, at least. For those that have not seen a laser printer drum in person, I present to you:

The plural of "hero" is "heroes", but the plural of "zero" is "zeros". Apparently, "zeroes" is correct if you use British English.
The more I stare at the word "zeros" I feel like it is a brand name, like "drive the new Hyundai Zeros" or the name of a villain in an x-men movie. And pronounced "ZEE-rohs"
Like "gyro"...we used to frequent a diner where the owner was old-school from Greece, he would pronounce the sandwiches "yee-rohs"
So what if I want to order multiple gyro sandwiches, would be it "gyros" or "gyroes"
And if I was L.L. Cool J, the correct pronunciation would be "jye-row" Jye? Like "look into my eye" except with a J in front of the "eye"

"Maths" vs. math" inasmuch as it is an abbreviation for the plural "mathematics."
"Theatre" vs. "theater." OK, I can't argue that it makes more sense, but I prefer it as they had theatre when we were still stealing this land from the natives.
I'm sure there are others that are not coming to me now but, perhaps our UK members can add to this.
Cheers.

Woke to water in the basement. Supposedly strings of bad weather all day. Severe storms are supposed to hit us later today. Then a drop of 30 degrees. I'm staying home as much as I can

Already though Southeast Missouri, but more is coming. We got the alert at 3:50 something this morning. Radar wasn't working for local tv stations, so they were using their phones to track potential tornadoes. DH put the umbrella in the table on the deck yesterday and forgot to bolt it in, so it took the table across our deck. No damage, but those winds were strong.
Good luck with the weather this afternoon.

I heard radar was down in some places too this morning. I felt bad for my kid, he had to leave in a deluge.
We take our umbrella down for winter and it hasn't gone back yet. After losing one while in vacation one summer we remove it before traveling too.
My meeting I had tonight was shifted to zoom already. Grateful for that. Not sure what to make for dinner though as I am unsure what power will be.

We just experienced an earth tremor here in SEPA. Weird feeling - like we were on the subway without a stop. Any one else?? NJ reported a 4.8 earthquake.

Yup, we definitely felt it up here (Saratoga Springs, NY). I was on the phone with my mom who thought it was a really severe wind but when I told her I felt it too (we're about 10 miles apart) we decided it must've been an earthquake. Wild.

Just read about it in the NY Times as it hot NYC as well. Living in CA now, we just consider these semi-routine occurrences. Not so much on the east coast given the different geological composition. OTOH, because of the composition, they travel further when they do happen.
Cheers.

Yup. I'm 10 miles from Philadelphia's City Hall. If I drive a mile I can see the city skyline. It shook my house pretty hard. 4.7/4.8. I can't imagine a 6 or 7.

Yeah, that would be "interesting" with that geological composition. mrs. brp., the Ph.D. Geophysicist, thinks that it's most likely due to fracking.
Cheers.

I learned today that there are number of faults that are beneath NJ, and the epicenter of today's quake was very close to where two of the fault lines meet. I am not aware of any fracking in NJ, but it could be happening and I'm just not aware of it.
