Because of point inflation over the years, to stay one week at your resort of choice will cost you a lot more per year and lifetime. So you can't just compare 100 points to 100 points, because for Poly you will need 59 more points than an OKW owner for the same week.
We were just on Oahu and went to visit Ko Olina and Aulani. We have absolutely no interest in staying there for a few reasons, but I decided to look at the points as compared to BWV, for example. Base-level accommodations were as mush as, or more than, top level BWN accommodations. And, as you say, this is likely becoming more pronounced as time goes by.
Cheers.
Any dining highlights or lowlights?? It's almost time to start narrowing down our May/June restaurants.

Any dining highlights or lowlights?? It's almost time to start narrowing down our May/June restaurants. We were there for two weeks. We cooked the majority of nights. If you plan to do that, the Foodland in the Ala Moana mall is quite nice for selection of meats and fish.
Near the Hilton Hawaiian Village is John's World Famous Hawaiian Hot Dog cart in the afternoons. Nice for a lunch snack.
For actual restaurants, we went to a few that I liked:
In the Waikiki Marriott is Sansei Sushi. We know their Waikoloa location well. On Sunday and Monday, 4:45-5:30 (basically, before opening hours),the do half-price ion most menu items. Excellent sushi at a good price. Get in line early.
Noi Thai Restaurant in the Royal Hawaiian Center has a nice happy hour. Small menu, but tasty.
On the 30th floor of the Ilikai is Pesca. They do happy hour all day at the bar. The view is stunning. The food qas good, although ours took way too long this time and the bartender apologized and took some off the bill. I get the impression that that is not the standard.
Lots of good coffee places - we're partial to Island Vintage.
There are many nice restaurants in the Honolulu/Waikiki area. Ko Onlina, OTOH seems a wasteland, but Monkey Pod is nice.
Cheers.

I have no chance of buying DVC at the moment. But have sent up a search and am addicted to looking at contacts via DVC for less.
Maybe if the price is right it might tempted me.

I'm in that boat, too. We wanted one desperately, but the thought of having to pay the annual dues on three contract's worth of points has turned us off...temporarily. Still kinda looking.

That 250 Point BCV August UY with 487 2023 points and fully loaded for 2024 and 2025 at $134 is interesting.
237 points need used by July so those definitely distressed so assume can Rent at $12 per point. The rest assume $20 per point for all 3 years and all of a sudden you have your purchase price down to $15,700.
Just need $36000 to make the purchase...

I have a slim chance of buying DVC and still have the search set up. Might have to wait closer to year end as most listings have dried up. Apparently this is normal during summer. So no great worry

We were looking a week or two ago and saw a few that interested us, but just like before, the thought of paying more dues makes us pause.
Wife was looking at Alaska cruises...then she's like "the amount of money we'd spend on that, we could buy more points instead" but now she's looking at Alaska cruises again.
I guess - if we got another 200 or something at OKW, that's another $2000 in dues every year.
