I have been eating lunch at Coral Reef on recent trips . The food has improved over the years . I had the prime rib and it was excellent . The service was also great . I sat next to fish and enjoyed them floating by. It is also often a walk up . Give it a try next trip .

I've always liked Coral Reef. The atmosphere is unique, the food has been consistently good, service has been pleasant. It does get noisy because the aquarium reflects sound.

I wish I could get DH to re-try Coral Reef. We haven't eaten there since 2005 when they made us wait an hour past our reservation.

I know some years it had very bad reviews, so good to know. btw, I’m sorry about the loss of your friend Jen. I always enjoyed her reports going back to when he dad was alive.

We just ate there for the first time as part of the Candlelight Processional package in December. I was concerned since I had heard a lot of negatives. But it was fine. I can't remember what we had, so that tells me it was "fine". But its always best to try for yourself - everyone's taste is different.

I’ve always enjoyed the atmosphere. The food not so much. That said, their steak offering has usually been decent.

Coral Reef is such a yo-yo restaurant at WDW. We have eaten there many, many times over the years. At first it was great, than the dining plan ruined it, than it got better again, than it got bad again.....Its been about 2.5 years since our last visit and it was a bad one. From waiting way to long for our table, to getting a table and having 7 squeezed in where it should have been 5, slow service and rushed service.....apps and entrees came out a minute apart. And on top of all that, the food was just meh at best.
I know that restaurants like Coral Reef have a higher turn-over of staff, than some of the others. The current Chef, Tyler Schmitt, has been at Coral Reef since May of 2022. Prior to that, he worked at Takumi-Tei, so he has skills. I should give it a try again.

We have been to Coral Reef once. After hearing me talk about going to WDW all my childhood, in 2010 my wife decided that after three years of marriage we should finally go on a honeymoon and she booked a surprise trip. It was "free dining" and we chose Coral Reef for our anniversary. All I know is I probably got clam chowder and some standard dish while geeking out over being inside vintage "The Living Seas" from Epcot. Every time we walk by there, we talk about maybe going again one day.

We keep talking about it. I only eat poultry and my kid eats shellfish but not fish unless he is certain it is sustainable fish (yes environmental reasons for both). So it's a struggle. Maybe I'll check the menu again to see if it's good for us.

Maybe I'll check the menu again to see if it's good for us. I do know that Disney has programs that support the health of the seas. mrs. brp did a dive in the main tank a few years back and 100% (not net) of the proceeds went to support the oceans. So I would not be surprised if their seafood sources are sustainable. But always worth checking.
Did a quick check. Seafood Watch is one that I trust, and here is something from 2021 pointing to sustainability goals at Disney
Cheers.
