We were at WDW from May 29 through June 5th. We opted to stay at BWV for the first time in a number of years. I'll list some things we noticed and liked or disliked. Over all it was a great stay!
The BWV refurb is quite nice. Sadly we could tell it was rushed. Our room was finished a couple of months ago and already the support holding up part of the couch cushions was falling. We noticed the cabinet doors weren't all well aligned as well. But overall the refurb is lovely. The color is light and airy. Very comfortable to be in and I love the way it looks now for sure! Great little Disney touches when you look close. And all the USB chargers were working well!
We had a big issue with the thermostat a couple of times. It literally just shut itself off. No power. Apparently, a blown fuse they have to reset. Apparently this is a bigger issue. Something up with the wiring that they did during the refurbishment. The nice thing is the maintenance who fixed it all removed the 68 lower limit. Our room was set to 65 to cool it off when we returned.
It was fantastic to see Kirk there at BWV. He used to reside at BRV before they removed the desk there. He's kind of hopeful he could do the Polynesian if they ask.
Not having all the food options was actually fine for us. We were told we could order from Trattoria al Forno but it never worked in app. But so many other options for us. The location is as good as always. We walked to Epcot and DHS. The bus to AK was great. MK was hit or miss. I noticed more singular routes this time vs being dropped off at a different bus location.
MDE and rides seemed to be very temperamental this trip. We had one morning where no times were showing up in the app at all. Like nothing. The G+ people were super mad and I get it. Hard to plan when you don't know where to go next. My kid and I were alone that morning at MK and we did okay but yeah, it was bad for some. The ride stoppages were pitiful at times. Our first day we walked onto SSE and it went down just as we were about to get in the merge point. CM told us and offered us a return time for it before it was officially offered. She heard us talking about getting lunch next. I appreciated that. Guardians was down a really long portion of the day as was Ratatouille. Test Track went down too. Even when TT was up, we were in limp mode for part of the ride. That was just one day. Tron and Guardians struggled all week long as well as a few other rides. It was noticeable particularly with wait times at DHS and Epcot when it happened. We opted a few days where we had tighter schedules to do ILL instead of hope that the VQ number we got would work. At least with ILL times we knew we'd be fine later. CMs were nice overall though.
The rides and app issues were our biggest disappointment this trip. Moana and SSE at night are my new favorites. I found out by accident I cannot tolerate MK during fireworks (afternoon VQ we did at 2pm made for a 9pm ride time). But I noticed Epcot lacks the craziness and crowds so I enjoyed it there more. Even with fireworks going off, I felt fine. MK is a no way in hell for me anymore at night.
Food was pretty good this time around. As some of you know I have a stupid allergy which makes some food options hard. I have to say this time the CMs were spectacular with helping. We had a few new (or new since big changes) for us.
Spice Road: was once a must do, but had not tried since the menu changed. It was a smaller menu so I was concerned, but we did it on a whim after leaving DHS. I shouldn't have been. There were a few items without any adjustments at all that I could eat. The spiced chicken was fabulous. They let me just have a side of naan to go with it since the bread service had many items I couldn't eat. The guys got the sampler and were thrilled. Definitely a repeat.
San Angel Inn: loved the ambiance. We were seated near the water with just one table between us. The food was excellent. Every single adult item had my allergen in it, but I had looked at the kids menu instead and they had a couple items I could eat, no adjustments needed. It worked well and I have to say, I appreciated the grilled chicken for my meal was well seasoned.
The Fountain: not new for me, but new for my guys. The burgers they said were excellent. I had a sundae for dinner lol and their ice cream was much better than B&C. I highly suggest this over B&C for options, quality and ease of getting into.
We had our regulars as well. Grand Floridian Cafe as well as The Plaza. Nothing fancy but good food, but the citrus butter at GFC is still the bomb.
We had a delay to start, with the plane literally rebooting. They did their best to make up for it in flight but we had a later start than expected. Return home was nice but witnessed a very stressed dad who made me worry we'd watch him be removed.
I also had a MB issue that Guest Services was perfect with helping. So over all it was a really good trip.
