How often do others get room requests granted? I just checked in and am a little bummed!! Home resort and stays are in studios at Boulder Ridge. I always request “higher floor” “facing pool”. My last 3 stays I have been assigned a room on the 1st floor with no pool in sight. No balcony and I spend my entire stay listening to DH telling me to “close the curtains so others are not looking in our room”.
Just needed to vent!!! I know I should be happy I am at Disneyworld.

My experience has been hit or miss. I've gotten very close or exactly what I've asked for maybe 20% of the time.
I typically use the touring plans room finder tool - I don't know if that's better than the requests on MDE, though.

we've done pretty well. We always request high floors and get it most times. For BWV, we request high floors in a specific part of the building and usually get that. At BCV, we ask for nothing...and we receive it...in abundance (points to anyone who knows the reference for this last part).
Cheers.

Our luck is about 50/50, verifying with Member Services about five days prior to arrival my request is still there (use to disappear years back but now consistently still there). But, when I do get a room location I’m not pleased with, prior to entering the room, I go to Guest Services and kindly ask for other options. Nine times out of 10 they pull out a map and show me two or three other choices and I select one that I like the location better. Only have had once at the Contemporary where it was like nope, not gonna happen. Then I walked over to BLT to get to the room and CM asked me how my day was. Told him a little bummed but fine. He asked me what’s going on and then next thing I know, a change of rooms with an awesome view.

I would say 65/35...sometimes the complete opposite. Seems like depends on the resort....I am a !#*&^? I guess, but I have gone to rooms and asked to move on occasion. It depends...

We're probably just under 50%. Limiting the request to one, e.g. "near quiet pool" and your chances are better. I've found that if you get the "room ready" text and don't like the location, the front desk will try to help if they can, as long as you have not already entered the room. We once had a specific request at Pop Century (bldg 2 near parking lot) because we had a late flight and a rental car, and we knew from a prior stay that bldg 2 is a less than 5 minute walk to the skyliner. The room ready text had us in bldg 8 or 9. The front desk staff was able to move us to 5. But another time, at BW Inn, we were at the end of the BW view rooms (the Cake Bake Shop construction noise was lovely ), we asked if they had another BW view room available and they didn't. So it doesn't hurt to ask.

I tend to ask for rooms that are further away from main areas so that might help. I fill out the email form on the DVC page and put in my requests there. The last four that I put in I actually got we're really darn close to what I had asked for. The last one they put me in a slightly different section at the boardwalk, but when I said it was for noise and the lights, they moved me to a section that was less noisy since boardwalk is still undergoing renovations at that time. I tend to ask for what people don't want I think though LOL

We had a great room at Caribbean Beach last year and would love to have it again. The online check-in doesn’t have a lot of options at times and I haven’t seen a way to leave notes for check-in requests.

We typically request high rooms. For a success rate you would need to qualify what is considered a high room which for us is anything that is not on the first floor and we have been probably 95 percent successful as we have only been in a first floor room twice and once it was a great room at the end of the new villas at the GFV. I would say we get in the top half of the floors probably 75% but only about 25-30% on the very top floor. Most of or stays are at the BWV Boardwalk view but now we have also been staying from time to time at the GFV-park view.

Possibly we have been lucky, but our room requests have always been fulfilled as we requested. Our main request has been to have our room or rooms near the elevator because my wife has knee problems and has difficulty walking great distances. Also we have requested a high floor with a view of the lake and that request has also always been granted. I make a habit of calling Member Services about 3 to 4 weeks prior to our arrival and I think that helps in having our requests granted.

I haven't been very successful with our room requests; I do this instead. I try to arrive at the resort before I get the room ready message. We go to the front desk to see where our room is located (they won't give you the specific room number). If it's not a room in a location that we'd prefer, I ask if there are any other rooms we could get instead. 9 times out of 10, we've been able to change to a room that's more to our liking.

We've been fairly lucky. Unfortunately, it's the unlucky times that are most remembered - with everything, and not just villa assignments.
If we're assigned a villa before reaching property, DH just wants to settle in. If we check-in physically (we usually check in online), I will ask where the room is located and try for a better location. We have noticed is if the CM says your assigned villa is not ready but they could get you into a villa immediately we have always found this means were in a HA villa. If it's one night than I don't bother but if it is longer, depending on DH's level of patience, I would ask for a non-HA villa. That said the last HA villa we had at BLT had a spectacular view of the MK fireworks.

The rooms we want at BWV are pretty much furthest from the elevator and up the most stairs (5th floor), so not surprised that we have a good success rate. There is a very good access door at that end of the hall, so we never need the elevator except at check-in/check-out.
Cheers.
