I email my requests. Look for the Contact Us link under Help in MDE (desktop version). I typically call the hotel front desk or stop by there on an earlier trip to make sure that it is entered into the reservation.
The rooms we want at BWV are pretty much furthest from the elevator and up the most stairs (5th floor), so not surprised that we have a good success rate. There is a very good access door at that end of the hall, so we never need the elevator except at check-in/check-out.
Cheers.
The BW view rooms? That's a great location. One stairway to get to DHS and another at the opposite end of the hall to get to Epcot.

I'm trying something different with our room request for BW Inn in August. I requested a specific room number and added "or another room in close proximity to..." to see what we get. The last few stays there we've requested "near quiet pool", which I really like (we've even had the same room twice), but the walk to/from the lobby can be long, so for this trip I'd prefer something closer to the lobby.

I would say 65/35...sometimes the complete opposite. Seems like depends on the resort....I am a !#*&^? I guess, but I have gone to rooms and asked to move on occasion. It depends... Same here. I jave asked to move my room on occasion.

The stairs at BWV are really the best way to go if you can do it. The one that tweaks me a bit is the stairway mid hall in the view room area that comes out by the gallery, there is not a handle on the outside ground level door so you can't use it for going up. I guess it is there as a fire escape only and they don't want two way traffic but I don't really see the point. Now that you can't make the room request on line anymore we always just text with member services to make the request.

We have great success on room requests. We normally contact Disney around 7-10 days out from check-in. We are very specific with our room choices and will specifically request the actual room number or building for first choice. Our second choice is usually a bit broader, like request either building next to the Paddock pool or Room close to Lobby at AKV Kidani.

We come out that way and go in through the lobby, which is not too far, to be in that area. The ones at the end (by Dueling Pianos) are bi-directional.
Cheers.

Most times we just email our request. For some resorts, we will email the resort direct for the request.

Cheers.
