Used our new magic bands for the first time. We don't buy a lot of merch but we did use our bands to buy a bottle of plum wine, rent a scooter and purchase a couple of meals. Worked out easy peasy, like the convience but I noticed the total of our individual charges were off by .01 from the first day. Kind of annoyed now that we didn't deal with the discrepancy sooner and now will need to go to the lobby to check out and get my credit card charges corrected.
Makes me wonder how much money they have overcharged over the course of a year and how many don't make a deal over it, after all...its just a penny.

I check my bill against receipts every time and never noticed any difference. Not even a penny. Guessing that this is more a tempest in a teapot rather than an insidious profit making scam.
Cheers.

We don't charge much to the room ourselves. I have never found a discrepancy in the amounts though.

I have also never had any discrepancy. If you looked at the individual charges, you should be able to determine exactly which charge was off by the penny. Whatever the case, I highly doubt Disney is going to try to fraudulently increase revenues one penny at a time.

Have to admit that I'd walk away from the penny - my time is worth more than a penny extra per charge.

I remember being a kid in the 80s and staying a week at my grandma's house. We went grocery shopping. She bought some baking potatoes, one of which turned out to be bad, in her opinion. We went back to that grocery store and talked to the manager and got her 25 or 50 cents or whatever. I still remember this very well...and now as an adult I would not bother. I'd say, "well, sometimes you get a bad potato" and I'd cut the bad part away and use the rest.
However, there is a grocery store here that fairly consistently has sale price tags on their shelves but things do not ring up that way. My wife gets the manager over and gets the thing for the reduced price. I don't go to that store because I hate their high prices and their messed up registers.

After keeping receipts several times and it never being off, I no longer bother to waste the time or effort.

We found the discrepancy! One receipt from day #1 accurately had our charge, however the app displayed it .01 less. So total of all individual receipts total up correctly. Sure as pigs don't fly, tech isn't perfect.

After keeping receipts several times and it never being off, I no longer bother to waste the time or effort. I do just because that's what I do (sync to Quicken daily, for example) and it takes less than 10 minutes while chilling in the room. I definitely agree that it is really not necessary, though.
Well, except for once when Salt and Straw accidentally charged us twice for the same transaction. Easy to get fixed, but worth noticing at like 15 bucks.
Cheers.

We never charge anything to our room, we pay as we go using our Discover card for cashback. I checked us in online one time (never again) and had to put our Discover on file with Disney. Once we were there I saw that we were getting a $100 hold on our card every day even though we don't charge to the room. We were ok but I'm sure there are others who would have had their cashflow affected.

There is supposed to be a single $100 hold and it is only supposed to be increased if you exceed that amount. $100 per day is something that has never happened to us and is definitely not right.
As to getting benefits, I find it far easier to put the rewards card on the room and pay it all once at the end. Rewards still apply, just much simpler.
Cheers.

Thanks for the info. I may try it again just for the ease of checking in ahead of time.

We found a discrepancy one time when we returned home and it was much more than a penny. I don't remember the exact amount but I believe it was somewhere around $30. I immediately called MS and they corrected the mistake. After that incident I always check any charges prior to leaving WDW.
