The company that owns and operates Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea, have signed an agreement to allow the company to build and operate a Disney Cruise ship. The new ship will be of the "Wish" Class and have approximately 1200 cabins (4000 passengers). Construction is slated to start in 2025 with sailings starting in 2028. The Oriental Land Company has earmarked $2 billion for this project.
This will give DCL two ships operating in Asia by 2028.
I am excited to see what modifications/enhancements Oriental Land Company will make for their ship. Their rides and attractions seem to one step ahead of their American counterpart attractions.

Something I learned today from the press release is that Oriental Land Company is owned by a train company, Keisei Electric Railway.

Wow! Now if they would just sail from the port of LA to circumvent that airfare!!! Wow sounds amazing ( and expensive!)

DCL currently does cruises from the West Coast to Hawaii. I would like to see the new DCL ship cruise from Japan to Hawaii. They could synchronize the sail dates and you could literally transfer to the other ship and sail back with them. They could do this twice a year.

That's great news! It may be enough to finally get me over to visit those parks before 2030. Thanks for sharing!

I like this thinking. I like this thinking a lot. Overall also looking forward to this new development, particularly based on what I’ve seen of Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea.

Do you think these cruises will be run by DCL or OLC?
If they want to build a Japanese market, will they operate these like other DCL cruises, and have a mainly American clientele have first dibs at booking? Or will it be run by OLC and like Tokyo Disney, be sold primarily through an OLC booking system?
As far as I know it’s virtually impossible to book a package to Tokyo DL through a US, UK or non Japanese travel agent. I see these being much the same, having to navigate through booking yourself. Without any of the DCL status perks.

I don't know if what shows online represents the full spectrum of what is available, but at least certain packages are available.

Maybe I should take another look. Thanks for the heads up. 😊

I couldn't buy tickets directly on the TDL website last year but successfully got them through Klook.com. I bet they have cruise booking options too.
2028 will likely be the year I retire and hope to spend more time in Asia. Hopefully they will have repositioning cruises to/from Australia.
