[Thread drift in my own thread: One item in the personnel commentary within the link strikes me as dubious. I think the attribution of Star Wars fan unhappiness to the role of J.J. Abrams in the third trilogy reflects a surprising misunderstanding vis-a-vis Episode VIII.]  OK, to add thread drift onto your thread drift, mrs. brp and I are going to see J.J. Abrams' daughter, Gracie Abrams at the Fillmore in San Francisco in April. She is a very good young singer/songwriter and an extremely hard to get ticket.

To drift a little further... I had to google JJ Abrams because I had no idea who he was. After looking at his body of work, I still have no idea who he is...  |

Whenever there is a new movie that says "J.J. Abrams" I think, "oh great, another 'Transformers' remake" because I feel like that is his style for sure.
He ruined (in my eyes) the last one or two "Star Trek" movies which I was always into, but suddenly he came on board and it became an effects-showcase with lots of robot aliens, laser guns and explosions. So, "Transformers"

I get the interesting factor of Star Wars but it's not an area that I could spend a lot of time, it's not an atmosphere I want to live and it actually hurts to think our future progeny might be living like a Rogue One or Maladorian. We can tell ourselves Star Wars is Science Fiction but really we be living some of the science fiction produced 30 or 40 years back. So I absolutely do not want to spend $5K on a star cruiser experience. Really NOT surprised this experience is running in the red.
