Nice trip. Was this your first long stay? You moved around a bit . Was it okay/too much? I can't even write the words - late husband - a few years ago we had started going away twice a year 2 to 2 1/2 weeks each time. Spring and Fall. We loved it. It was our "snow birding". We split the stay - WDW and Vero. The plan was to stay a month two years from now once our youngest grandson started pre-school (babysit). I have two trips planned with my kids/grandchildren reserved. I know I will eventually go solo. Not sure how long I I can't make it solo - it will definitely not be a split stay anymore. I am so very sorry for your loss. My heart goes out to you

So sorry for your loss. I know my mother had a very hard time when my father passed away (twenty years) before her. We traditionally do long stays because I really do not like to fly. DH flies down while I drive (usually with my two boys 22 and 24) one a recent grad, other in grad school. I used to drive for my mother (who passed away two years ago) -- she was afraid to fly becaue of her blood cancer - and now I have found I actually like driving. I like to move around to try all the resorts, but BC is probably my favorite (probably because it was my mother's favorite) so we spend the most time there.

annamaria So sorry for your loss. My mom has been a widow now for 23 years. Glad you have kids around who are involved. It's pretty much just me for my mom (and my twin 25 year old girls). And I live 14 hours away (near Disney). And my mom is not a Disney or FL person so I can't get her to come hang out at my place. OP, the most we did (before moving down there) was 9 days. I could totally do a long stay and we were acquiring enough points to almost snow bird there. But then we just moved there into a house and sold off some of those points. I am not sure the hubby would have done as well being in the Disney bubble for a month at a time. I could do like you and cook in the room and just hang at the resort. But hubby would be wanting to go go go all the time and then would grow tired. We liked to do splits a lot when we did our stays. Now we just do a night or 2 a month (since we like nearby) and we stick to our faves which are AKV (for club level) and SSR with Riviera/BC/BW thrown in every now and again. Mostly at SSR. We did, when we first moved down, try grabbing a night at all the different ones and also found the monorail resorts a little too busy for us. Riviera is a fave of mine but such a point eater. We own most at BWV but haven't stayed there lately due to renovations going on. I had it booked for upcoming but dropped it and traded my points in to get club level at Gran Destino Tower. Something different.

Thank you @pooh bears mom and @lamima - We would have been married 42 years this year. We were each other's shadow. Need to find a new norm.......definitely not easy. I don't like flying but I do it. Not happy about it or I would fly more often as I would love to "travel" even more. Our trips were 50/50. My son has been driving the last 12 years or so. He refuses to fly. The family flies and he drives alone to WDW and the Keys. This is someone who flew everywhere and went skydiving. If our plans worked out and we would have managed to stay a month, it would be a split stay (Vero/Hilton Head or some other location). A month might be a bit much in one place.

Wow. 3 weeks sounds great. We recently did 10 days and that was more than normal for us but it was perfect (it’s tough for me to take that much time off work at once, DH can work from anywhere). The longer trips definitely allow to take things slower. So nice you were able to bring along your sons friend for part of it.

Definitely here for you as much as I can be for your solo adventures.

We had quite the busy trip. in addition to my family, one of my son's best friends also came along for 10 of the nights (and he hadn't been to disney in about 15 years. We started at SSR (3 nights), moved to BCV (11 nights), then VGF (4 nights), then back to SSR (1 night) , and finally ended at BWV(2 nights). My son's friends favorite resort was SSR because it was the most relaxing. Since my son's friend was there, we covered a lot of parks. I think we exhausted him towards the end as we did three parks in one day - started at AKV, then hopped to HS, followed by MK. That was the only day we purchased the Genie plus. I really miss the free FP system. We watched the fireworks at MK and got stuck in the after fireworks crowd leaving the park. Sounds like a great trip! I love reading stuff like this because my family/my preferences and how we do things are so different, and its fun to see what others like. We like being close to MK or Epcot (so PVB, VGF, BLT, BWV). We use Lightning Lanes and Genie Plus every day. SSR and OKW are our least favorite resorts. But again, I enjoy seeing how others like to do things. We have done 3 resorts in 8 days before, and I got tired of moving around. That was a lot of changing resorts, but I couldn't imagine 3 whole weeks at Disney. Amazing!

I have to ask, did it feel like a lot of work to move after only 1 or 2 nights towards the end? Our longest trip was 9 days. Towards the end, we realized we wouldn't want that long again. But I miss my bed and my cats after a while.

Normally we do 8 to 10 nights once a year, but a few years ago we did 15 nights. We have debated on how many nights are the right number but we came to the conclusion that more nights and less trips a year were better. We used to do 5 to 6 nights twice a year but found that was not enough time to meet our goals. 15 nights was a little much but it was a good experience as we had time to go shopping in Orlando and take a day or so just to chill out at our resort.

It was actually the hardest packing up from the beach Club because we unpack everything there.

If I didn't have ones at home who needed it, sounds like a dream really.
