Disney’s Polynesian Resort Construction Continues Through 2026 July 23, 2024 Paul Krieger www.facebook.com/groups/dvcfan1/permalink/1735873387241073/?For those eagerly planning their next Disney vacation or just keeping up with the latest Polynesian news, there’s a significant update that was just announced regarding the resort’s construction timeline! Disney has announced that construction and ongoing work at Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows will extend throughout 2026. This news has raised some questions about what this means for the new DVC Island Tower, so let’s explore what’s happening and what it means for your upcoming stays! Construction Timeline Disney’s official announcement states, “Now through 2026, you may see and hear construction and refurbishment work during daytime hours. The ongoing enhancements may impact views from several places within the Resort hotel property. To minimize disruptions during your stay, activities that may create noise will begin no earlier than 9:00 AM. Refurbishment work is subject to change due to operational needs or weather conditions.” Is the Island Tower DVC Addition Delayed? Despite the extended construction timeline, all signs point toward the Island Tower opening as planned on December 17th. What Is the Additional Construction About? The extended construction is primarily focused on enhancing the main entrance of the Polynesian Village Resort. This includes reworking the current main entrance to incorporate the new Island Tower, improving the Disney bus pick-up area, and making multiple parking lot enhancements. Blog Mickey has compiled some great details overviewing these changes. If you’ve visited this part of Walt Disney World recently, you might have noticed some transportation congestion. The reworking of these areas aims to alleviate these bottlenecks, ensuring smoother access for guests arriving by car or bus.

The new Tower is moving along nicely.
This new work is not a big deal for the actual resort, but will help better the traffic flow.
I am expecting an DVC announcement in the next couple of weeks for the Tower.

I'm looking forward to trying the Poly tower. I get all the issues with not fitting in with traditional Poly and impact on monorail system. OTOH, the room layout looks nice and having the full complement of room types for Poly owners is a win. Plus I'm hoping there will be good MK fireworks views from the Poly tower.
I wish those new rooms were going to be available in Sept. I'm thinking about one last quick trip to FL before we open the campground to use up some points. Oh well. There will be other trips.

I am expecting an DVC announcement in the next couple of weeks for the Tower. I keep hoping soon - I expected it this month but so far no go. I really need the point charts to decide what we do for spring break. That in itself got hosed due to spouse's lay off a month ag (but at new work already). But I cannot make plans with points when I don't know what we'll need. I saw some pictures this week of rooms with lights on at night. You can see cabinets and wall work already done. I think the path and grounds will be the last biggest hurdle. I'm looking forward to trying the Poly tower. I'm thinking about one last quick trip to FL before we open the campground to use up some points. Oh well. There will be other trips. The views will probably be some of the best outside of the bungalows. Probably better from higher up. Truthfully those who stay at Polynesian (outside of issues with boats) don't use the monorail as much as you think. I think dining has a bigger impact on monorail usage than the resorts at many times. During non meal times the monorails aren't really crowded at all. We don't stay to close but there are multiple ways back to PVB from MK.

I was trying my best to see if I could pry anything out of the DVC salesguide on our cruise. But he would not budge, in reality he really didn't know. I need a new mole to give me the scope on the sales situation.

I wish BLT had more of a direct view for MK though. The angle off to the side isn't my favorite, but it is lovely! I keep hoping soon - I expected it this month but so far no go. My guide left so I'm on my own now LOL I'm itching to know. Especially to find out about the dedicated 2 bedrooms.

It is much closer, but I like the view from the direction of PVB since its in line with how the fireworks are intended to be viewed instead of a side view. I'm looking forward to seeing it from the Poly Tower.

I wondered if that big square in the tower may be a viewing area for fireworks?

I wondered if that big square in the tower may be a viewing area for fireworks? We thought the same thing when we went by in the transportation boat.
