We have just recently started collecting. DD and DS dig it, DD moreso. I'm a fan of collecting resorts, rides, etc. I don't trade much, but the kids like to. Personally, I have the worst kind of "collector's OCD" - I'm always too worried that I'll trade off "nice / valuable" pins for "common / not-valuable". I think the kids are smarter: just trade for what you like!

One game we used to enjoy years ago when travelling to WDW with family & friends: Lanyard Competitions! Great idea! We're always looking for new ways to do scavenger hunts!

I collect pins. It's been a while since I've traded through the mail, I usually go to local pin events for trading.
Disney Pin Forum is a great, active forum (like magic owners) of pin collectors (and dolls too!)
I'm starry_solo over on DPF.

We have collected since our kids first trip in 2005. Lots of changes since then. But still love the pins!

I use to be an avid pin trader..... not so much any more. I still trade pins, but only once in a while. I actually do more on trading when we take the grandsons. And even then it's more about me giving them pins to trade.

We did the whole lanyard and pin stuff years ago when kids are little....no clue where they all are now! Probably some good ones in a bin somewhere- need to dig them out sometime!

My four kids have quite a few. I have a handful. The kids get excited about them when we are at Disney, and then I feel like I don't hear about them again until we back there. A couple of my kids really enjoy the trading aspect and like to see what's available whenever they find a location that has some for trade.

A long long time ago…. I started collecting them from DL and WDW in the beginning days and stopped when I realized I had spent $500 so quickly. I loved anything Tinkerbell and kept them and a few others. I love Mickey wearing a rain poncho pin design . I also have a Polynesian DVC pin with a small size room key attached ,

The only pins we have are the ones Disney used to send with reservation materials. I have a little bag of pins that I didn't really collect but, for some reason, can't seem to toss. They're all still attached to their cardboard or case. LOL

My mom and sister collected years ago, and keep their pins in the big OG Disney pin trading books. My kids loved looking at her pins and were so excited when they were old enough to start their own collection and trade. Initially, they kept the collection on lanyards but as it grew, I found Disney fabric and used it to cover two huge bulletin boards. Every once in a while, we look at the collection as a family and reminisce on memories certain pins evoke. Good times!

Registration Opened and filled to capacity for : Disney Magic Hap-Pins 2023 I guess it was sponsored thru Disney because the registration was using the Eventswithdisney.queue-it.net It did and now RSP (random selection process) for the pins has begun. There are private people doing events that weekend too, so for more avid pin traders, they can go to the Disney event one day and then go to private pin events the next day (or two). Me, I think I would get tired of lugging all the pins out of state... I'm already tired of lugging them within the state, lol
