So I guess I missed the memo - is this a normal restaurant: sit down, table service, order off the menu - Whispering Canyon at DHS? Or is it some kind of family-style shindig. Hoop-de-doo lite? With a show, a-la Biergarten? (and what used to be at DLR a few years back)

Website was glitchy today but not surprised with Disney's IT but did snag a lunch for 3/25 - 2 days after opening - so hoping they work out any snags by then. Grabbed a 1:55pm coming from Epcot - did I mention how much I hate park reservations?

With a show, a-la Biergarten? (and what used to be at DLR a few years back) Sit down. AYCTE. Family Style. No show. $45 adult, $25 kids. Basically yeah like Whispering Canyon or Diamond Horseshoe, but at HS. disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2023/01/disney-eats-first-look-at-roundup-rodeo-bbq-menu-opening-march-23/I think the food looks good. The salads and watermelon seem like a nice touch to lighten up what would otherwise be a meat-heavy dinner. HS needed a family style restaurant geared towards kids. We got a res for spring break... Coincidentally, we're staying at the WL and had planned to eat at WC earlier in the week. Drop one or keep both? We've never stayed WL before so I want to try WC, and RR is of course new so I want to try that too. We'll probably keep both since one is at the beginning of the week and the other is at the end. What used to be at DLR a few years back?

What used to be at DLR a few years back? Oh well it's been a while so my memories may be wrong, but I recall a quick-service with a bluegrass/old-timey band while you ate at picnic tables. There was a petting zoo nextdoor with goats on haybales. I thought it all went away for the Star Wars land. Now that I've typed that for all to see, I bet it's 100% wrong.

We ate there tonight. Food was great from biscuits to dessert. All the salads were good, meats were good, brisket was tender, ribs, and sausage were better than good, chicken had a great smoke to it. Everyone loved desert, raspberry sorbet for no sugar option. $45 per adult, no AP or Dvc discount. Will definitely be back.

We ate here this past weekend. We did not have an ADR, but happen to walk by as it was opening. We checked at the podium to see if there was a table for 2. We were in luck and was seated about 20 minutes later.
Overall, lunch was very good. For two people, it was way too much food....there was so much waste. Next time we go, we will only ask for two sides instead of the four offered. Lunch starts off with cheddar biscuits and man are they good! You get four sides with your meal and we choose mac-n cheese, tater tots, corn on the cob and salad. Three out of the four sides were very good, with the tater tots being the best.....so good. The street corn was lacking big time, mostly because its not fresh corn. The meat platter was so good. The brisket was by far our favorite, I could have skipped all the ours and just had all brisket. The chicken had a real strong smoke flavor and the ribs were finger licking good. The only meat that we were meh over, was the sausage. It wasn't bad, just not great like the other meats....imho. There are mini-desserts that come with the meal. We ordered the silky chocolate and the blueberry-lemon cheesecake. Both were good, but honestly I was so stuffed that I only took a "taste" bite.
Lunch for two was around $110..... a bit steep for a BBQ lunch, but it was also a lot of food.
In summary, the restaurant had a great "fun" vibe". I only wish they added some level of character interaction. That would complete the restaurant for me. The food was very good and a nice change from the other DHS fare. We would definitely go back again.

Most others were in a huge rush to try it and gave thumbs down for all except the cheddar biscuits. With most new places it takes time to work out the kinks. Same thing happened for Skipper’s Canteen and now it gets consistent high marks. Glad you liked it.

Since DHS is close a half day park for us (when doing early entry), I'd opt for lunch at Polite Pig if we want BBQ.

Since DHS is close a half day park for us (when doing early entry), I'd opt for lunch at Polite Pig if we want BBQ. Given the choice between the two, I would choose Polite Pig over Round Up Rodeo BBQ. But its about location and time. If I am in DHS and not going to Disney Springs, I wouldn't hesitate to choose Round Up Rodeo.
We discussed taking our grandsons here at the end of June. But the youngest (7) does not like BBQ and there were not any alternative foods that he would eat. The oldest grandson (9) would absolutely love the food here.

Three out of the four sides were very good, with the tater tots being the best.....so good. Dw and I both agree on the tater tots. Definitely not your frozen out of the bag tots. Dw said bet tots she ever had. Also our server brought out salmon for anyone that asked even if they didn't order the vegan option.

SIL is vegetarian and very selective in everything she eats— no meat, fish, starchy vegetables, pasta. Salads, some vegetables and tofu are mostly what she eats. Is there something she might eat? The rest of our extended family would probably love it.

They have a plant based rib chop and bratwurst along with a cauliflower dish. Most of the sides look veggie friendly. Tell your server and a chef will come out and will almost always cook what they have to meet your needs. The rib chop is supposed to be really good.
