I'm curious as to how this will shift the rope drop crowds, which currently all run to SDMT and Space Mtn. (for early entry).

Given how easy it has been to get Tron VQ, this is unfortunate. But, as will all things, we will adapt.
Cheers.

This is great news-maybe! It depends on how long the wait time is in the regular, stand-by line. And also, how much time you save by buying the Single Pass LL and using that method instead.

Hmmm, depending on wait times, this may push us to buy the ILL. It’s the only ride my DH cares about in MK.

Is it really great news? VQ was pretty easy to get and, when I went in February, my wait with VQ was less than 30 minutes. Now, you’ll either get a mad dash at rope drop, a likely 2-hour wait, or have to purchase a single pass LL.

So is the move to drop Virtual Queue simply to drive more sales of LL?

So is the move to drop Virtual Queue simply to drive more sales of LL? While dropping VQ will almost certainly increase sales of the single pass LL, I really don't think that is the driving force. At some point, all these new rides need to come off VQ. And if you really think about it, why does Disney even both with VQ in the first place? They could simply give you the option of buying a single pass LL or waiting 3-5 hours in line when the ride is new. Even if they want VQ for crowd control early on in the first couple of weeks of open, it could have been dropped quickly. They didn't need to keep VQ going for 17 months (Tron opened on April 4, 2023). Am I happy that VQ is going away? Of course not. VQ was free and easy to get. I'm going in October so will likely buy the single pass LL so I don't have to fight the hoard at rope drop or stand in line for what will almost certainly be 2+ hours. But if Disney's driving force to drop VQ was to drive single pass LL sales, they could've dropped VQ over a year ago.

People standing in a long line like that aren’t spending money …….. True. Though extra single pass LL sales (if there was no VQ) could offset any lost revenue from people standing in line. Also, if not standing in line, are they really more buying things than they would if they weren't standing in line? Or are they just standing in a different line for another ride or just leave the park at 8PM instead of 6PM if they saved 2 hours in line. There are no doubt a few extra $ spent on a snacks you wouldn't have otherwise purchased. But if you were going to eat a meal, you will still eat that meal if there was no VQ. If you were going to go to the shops, you will still go to the shops if there was no VQ. I can honestly say that I don't buy extra things because I was standing in line less. Maybe others do?

People do buy things at Disney, so I think we can start with that as axiomatic. People standing in lines do not buy things (the very occasional digital purchase excepted). The majority of people buying things, therefore, are not standing in lines. So, clearly, others do.
Cheers.

Perhaps this was to eliminate the interference of Tiana's VQ.

This was quite a surprise announcement....will affect how we do our MK day for sure. think we'll have to plan on rope dropping MK now, and that was not in the plans. We'll be watching how the wait times go over the next few weeks, although since Sept is a typically a much slower month, may not be a good gauge for Oct....I expect FoP wait times.....we'll see though. I'd been tracking some wait times/ VQ availability, and Tron did stay available most afternoons for quite a while, several hours sometimes, but Tiana always full.
