I know this is not DVC or a Disney Resort, but it is on WDW property.
Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort Announces $275 Million Transformation & Expansion
The Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort has announced a $275 million transformation that will include an expansion of 120,000 square feet of event space and the ongoing renovation of guest rooms at the Swan hotel. Here’s the official announcement:
The Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin announced the largest renovation and expansion in the property’s history, highlighted by the addition of 120,000 square feet of event space to its current meeting and convention floorplan. The entire project is an investment of $275 million over the next several years and will also include modernized upgrades to existing meeting spaces and Swan guest rooms; and technology enhancements throughout the property. The expansion will bring the triplex’s total meeting space to 469,000 square feet between its three buildings, the Swan, Dolphin and Swan Reserve to go with its 2,619 guest rooms making it one of the largest convention properties on the East Coast. The additional space will expand the hotel’s largest contiguous event space to 175,000 square feet, making it among the largest hotel spaces in the country.

Good news for convention destinations. Business must be good for Marriott!

THAT is a really fun vantage point of Epcot Center in that rendering. I can see all the classic attractions minus Horizons; even Wonders of Life. Very nice. Plus, a very cool view of World Showcase.

We love staying at the Dolphin. The Swan is more 'business professional' while the Dolphin seems more leisure type.

We drove by a couple weeks ago and it looked like they had 100,000 square feet of tents in the parking lot.

We love staying at the Dolphin. The Swan is more 'business professional' while the Dolphin seems more leisure type. I've always felt the other way around. Swan has less going on most of the time. More quiet and relaxed. Dolphin is the one that's usually super busy in the lobby. Though they have good food there as a whole. I appreciate both and exclusively stayed there pre-DVC days. Some of my family still stays there and we visit often.

We drove by a couple weeks ago and it looked like they had 100,000 square feet of tents in the parking lot. They were actually using the Magic Kingdom parking lot and shuttling people back and forth with buses. Rumor was that the conference also booked out all of the conference facilities in the Disney Boardwalk hotels, as well as doing a Epcot buy out one night, must have been huge. So if they are adding 120K square feet of conference space I wonder what they are going to do for parking?

I miss the days of Starwood points. Granted a lot of my points came from Swalphin stays. I did a lot more visits elsewhere on points like that though. Also, I knew a guy, so I usually got upgraded easily to when they had concierge level back before 2006, without even asking (It was just on my file to auto upgrade me). Really the connection to the one who worked there got me started on staying at Swalphin. I was going 3 or 4 times a year too (tons of vacation and no kid) so I racked up the points. I'm glad I bought into DVC when I did because within a few years CL ended and then eventually hands changed.

I totally agree. My daughter and I talk endlessly about how much we miss our old Starwood Amex card with the 10,000 points (only!) for Swan & Dolphin. It was a total steal and we stayed so many times at both hotels. Darn. Gone are the days....
We are thankful not just for those hotels but it opened our eyes for that area to stay in. It's why I bought BCV points and also stay at BWV a lot. All because of those Starwood points.

It's why I bought BCV points and also stay at BWV a lot. All because of those Starwood points. I fondly remember those days. I started with Starwood very early on when there were only 4 tiers - top tier was 10k points a night. That means that even the St. Regis in NYC was only 10k points despite being almost $1000/night in those days. That is why the mantra with rewards points of any type is use them when you can. Devaluation is always happening.

I want more restaurants, damn it. Convention space does nothing for me. More restrooms doesn’t hurt, however…
