Karl - I remember that picture of Emma when she was very small in her Colts gear - do I remember that she was on the scoreboard then? Anyways - I always think of that when I see the Colts on TV. So grown up now!!

Not even 8:00pm and the sun has set, ugh! I have a love hate with this time of the year. I await the crowds to be gone, and then we get 2nd Summer but I just don’t like when it starts to get dark earlier. That’s when I say, we should have moved to FL, it stays lighter longer...

Or Ecuador. Even later.
I actually like times of year with earlier darkness sometimes. We like to sit around some evenings, look out the windows into the night, have low lighting and turn on the fireplace (gas fireplace, so nothing to clean).
When it stays light too late, this is harder to do.
Overall, though, I do like the light. Especially as we have solar and we generate more with more light
Cheers.

Sunset hasn't happened here yet. Being north and west I hate DST. It stays light way too late. It's just before 10pm here at some points.
Booked our remaining resort at WDW we haven't stayed in. I feel wet behind the ears with Riviera. Spent a lot of time there in 2021 with friends but that's it.

Light is good, you can sit around but just stay up later., lol. It’s not cool enough for me to turn on FP, though the FP guy told me to do so over off season months so it doesn’t sit. Mine is gas, no worries about it not being to clean. It’s fine. What time out west does the sun set? I just don’t like the day after day that the the sun goes down. I think because I don’t have school age children any longer, the shorter days, the back to school always just made me feel as if… wait summer isn’t over. In the NE school doesn’t start till after Labor Day. Old habits die hard. I still hate seeing school supplies in stores after the 4th, though it doesn’t affect my life. I love, and locals are counting to Labor Day weekend. The end of SUMMER tourist season. But, I don’t like darkness coming earlier and earlier. It’s a slow transition, I get use to. I would be happy if they never did DST. It worked when Carter did it. I was a teen, but no turning back the clocks…. Yes.

I just hate when the summer weather and bay breeze is blowing in and it gets dark before 8. I hate DTS for the opposite. Darkness before 4:45, here and that whole thing about being light earlier. Which it was done years ago so the farmers kids could work the farm and go to school… I’m calling something changed. It use to be years ago it was lighter earlier. No, I have a GSD that thankfully doesn’t need to go out as often now. When he was younger, he would wake us/me up and it could be 6:30 am during fall back dts. Where’s the light? Husband used to go back up for business and I just was never comfortable in the dark having to take him out. So I don’t get where the light went when we fall backwards. It’s just as dark in the morning. I trained him. Lol, I don’t do dark middle of the night calls. Really most of the time he was awake and was bored. He’s my 5th so I know their game.

I would be happy if they never did DST. It worked when Carter did it. I was a teen, but no turning back the clocks…. Yes. Sunset here is 7:51PM today, so like an hour and a few at this point. We're early-to-bed people so staying up later is not ideal. On many days, we watch movies and such in the evening, and start around 7. Gotta keep curtains drawn in these days, but not so in the winter.
We never had kids, so those are habits we don't need to break. And now that we're retired, school and tourist seasons don't matter
I could also be good with a single time and no changing.
Cheers.

I would love no changing time, yes please. You are about the same with sunset. Wasn’t sure only been to CA once back in… 05 I think so I can’t remember sunset times. I know in FL it stays lighter just a bit longer.
Kids grown and gone. Tourist season. Well we all (locals) count down to Labor Day weekend clear out. Even the restaurants advertised, locals Summer of second Summer. I can even pull out of my development and go left, which is impossible unless you are a dare devil or ride the the center turn lane. Hmm hello husband and neighbors who have the guts. Just a transition when it gets dark earlier, but love off season.

In the darkest part of winter here in Minnesota it will get dark around 4:30...I actually kind of like it in a few ways, one: the snow takes on this blue hue starting around 4pm and it's gorgeous. Two: it gets dark early and I have a hot tub (outside) and I prefer it in the dark. Same goes in the morning.

When I was in Iowa in May, I was shocked at how bright it was at 5:30 am. I had forgotten how light it was there so early in the morning with being on central time. It’s no wonder my kids require darkening drapes. I jumped out of bed there thinking I had over slept. The short days get it after awhile Dec-March.
And, I’d be okay with no time changes. I’m not a fan.

Being north and then west in my time zone means summers are light way later and we're used to more darkness during the winter. Having the DST shifted to different days really was bad IMO. More jarring of shifts in daylight. My dad was a farmer. No farmer liked DST when it started so moving to have longer DST just made it worse. We trick or treat mostly in daylight now. We didn't used to when DST ended in Oct. Move south for more steady daylight hours or you have to pick when sunny days occur.

I enjoy the early evening darkness. I get irritated with myself that during the summer I'm in bed with it being light out. I never get irritated with back to school shopping. It's the only time I feel like there is notebook and pen selection. When the kids were young I'd be "YES! My house will finally stay clean during the day." Plus I no longer had to look for kid entertainment because I told them that's why they went to school. LOL. I'm sure the teachers were like "eh, those Baker kids think we're here for their amusement." HAHAHA

Two: it gets dark early and I have a hot tub (outside) and I prefer it in the dark. Same goes in the morning. I spent some time in Fairbanks, AK in February once (don't ask). I don't remember the exact length of daylight, but I believe I could hold my breath until it passed.
Alternatively, in the Fairbanks summer, blackout blinds were necessary for any sleep
I enjoy the early evening darkness. I get irritated with myself that during the summer I'm in bed with it being light out. I hear that. Some days I want to go to bed earlier than usual. We have windows on two sides and we don't close the blinds on one side, so I can tell that it's light out...
Cheers.

That would be a downfall, going to bed. There is just something weird when it’s still light out and being sleepy. It happened once this Summer and it just felt weird as I should be up doing something. Not going to sleep.
