That low tire pressure alerts me faster to nails in tires than anything before. It registers before I know my tire is low by feel. No I don't check often enough, but I do. Let me know of a screw not long ago. Stupid people. Run flats though so even if zero, I could drive a short while. Fixed though.
I've never had one fo those go bad, but I have swapped tires and even rims likely before the battery died.

One learns to ignore the tire pressure light until it’s obvious by feel. First frost of the season and the light always magically went on.
As for other shit, nope, I ain’t checking. Car’s job is to just work, damn it.

As for other shit, nope, I ain’t checking. Car’s job is to just work, damn it. Lol! This made me laugh. As for ignoring the light, I am good at that. I knew the tires were mostly okay in pressure. But twice in one day (one day only) I started the car and the thing beeped like a pinball machine and said "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILURE" or some damn thing on the dash. And no power steering. Shut it off and restart and everything was fine. Some research pointed to a possible connection to the "tire pressure sensor failure" warning, including a few comments about in the early days of the system Ford would shut down the power steering pump to basically force you to bring the car in and get it fixed if the tire pressure thing wasn't working. As an engineer myself, I never cease to be amazed at the decisions that some automotive engineers make.

Having run flats in the winter I am appreciative of the notice as it is harder with run flats IMO to feel changes. Regular tires I notice before the car does.

(Not really fair to blame the engineers here. For the most part, this was management pushing them.)
Cheers.

Cheers. Still funny even if we know truths

I worked for a research lab most of my adult life and for the period of a few years we were owned by Boeing, between that and working on a number of DOD contracts life was interesting at times.
The car engineers keep trying to idiot proof their cars, the problem is the old saying is true you can always find a better idiot. This is why true self driving cars won't happen until you the idiots are out from behind the wheel.
Kind of like Disney trying to plug all the loop holes in how they do things, they plug and plug until it becomes a PITA for those of us that aren't trying to beat the system.

Today is National Kiss a Ginger Day
Kiss 'em if you've got 'em
I texted our auburn haired boy to be careful today. My Ginger (orange girl cat named by my ginger boy when he was 9) has gotten more than her fill. I still cannot believe that we did have a ginger kid though. Genetics are fun.

This talk of "gingers" makes me think of the classic "Ginger vs Mary Ann" discussion that used to occur in every bar and work breakroom over cups of coffee. Now I think time has gone by and this discussion does not happen like it used to. And it is certainly before my time...but a couple of the jobs I have held had a) an older crowd (school bus driver mostly) and b) lots of time spent with a cup of coffee in the breakroom (again with the school bus driver). "Ginger vs Mary Ann" was a real thing. For the record, I'm 100% Mary Ann and I suspect most of the people that I become friends with are also in that camp. And how cool was the Professor?
But - "We want's the redhead!" "Are ya sellin' her by the pound?!" "Belay there, ya scum! Shift yer cargo, dearie, show 'em your larboard side. No need to expose your superstructure!"

I even made this comment to mrs. brp after reading helenabear 's post. That was not before my time. I remember a commercial some years back for a product I don't recall (a beer, I believe) with people having this conversation. Everyone chose Mary Ann a and one woman commented "Ginger was a bimbo."
The Professor is special to me. When I used to work at concerts, one of my jobs was the assistant boss for Guest Services. In the office we share with the ushers, someone had gotten action figures and hung them on the wall - Skipper for the boss and Professor for me because of my degree. AFAIK, it's still there and this was almost 20 years ago.
Cheers.

Definitely more for Mary Ann here too. I think having a cat named Ginger has me totally forgetting about the show and that Ginger! Of course also having a ginger boy for the last 16 years my first thoughts definitely go to other people. But I do definitely remember the Mary Ann versus Ginger discussion. All said and done, we still say "we wants the redhead" quietly while on the ride, of course while looking at my kid
